Nitto Invo or Proxes T1R???

Looking for some feedback from any members who have experience with either tire and your personal feedback.

My set up will be:

245/35/19 Front
275/30/19 Rear

335i
Lowered on H & R Sport Springs

Wheels are VOLK TE37 - 19x8.5 front 19x9.5 rear

I have already burned through a set of YOKO ES 100s. IMO these tires are not worth the money, tend to break traction under hard rolling throttle (especially in the rain), and grip is not that great.

Nitto Invos and Proxes T1R seem to have some good press on them so any personal feedback is appreciated.

I drive spirited and track occasionally.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. - Recommendations on tire vendors who sell them are appreciated as well.

If you track, neither one of these will do. Theyre both "show" tires.

Goodyear Asymmetric F1 (they're made in Germany). Fantastic tire in both the wet and the dry. In the wet the grip is almost as good as the dry. Super traction for sure. They have a rim protector also. They're great on the track too if you do take it to the track. They have a good wear rating too. Definitely worth the money IMHO. I will repeat for sure.

You must not know much about the history of either tire brand to make the above statement.

And if you the read the OP the question was for those who have run either tire and their opinions on either.

The OP didn't ask for subjective statements.

I used to have the t1rs and they have their pros and cons. I do quite a bit of spirited drives through the mountains and found that it had good grip and wet traction. They have a rounded sidewall and tend to be skinnier than most other tires that are of the same size which is good for clearing fenders and if you're looking to stretch the tires a little.

They do get noisy after some use...i'd say about 5k miles is when it starts to get a little loud. For the money, they're pretty damn good, and wouldn't mind picking up another set.

I haven't personally owned the invos (currently have the NT-05), but many people i know do and they all agree that it's one of the quietest tires out there and offer excellent grip through the corners. A bit pricier than the toyos but they compare this tire to the PS2's. I also noticed that they're a meatier tire overall.

hope that helps a bit.

I've had nothing but troubles with my Invo's. 3 out of 6 tires out of round.
Fronts still aren't right. For the money I paid for them.. I should have paid a little more an have gotten the PS2's. I didn't because I thought the tires would be an overkill for my 328i.

Not a popular opinion here but I would say that the Invo's suck!

I would have to agree with Digital James. If you track your car just spend a little more for PS2's.

I have had zero issues with the invo's. They're an awesome performing tire. Only gripe is the rears have worn much faster than anticipated. they are quiet and have excellent grip.

Also look into the Yoko AD08s.

They run a bit large, so a 265 will give you a 275 footprint.

Tire test that involves the Invo's in the current car and driver.

If your looking for performance ....Invo's are not it.

They look cool, they are quiet and good in the wet.....but as far as grip?....they did a little better than the $57 Ling Long brand.

Good Luck all!

i hav to agree w/ this. i hav the eagle f1 gs-d3's and they rock. the asym f1's r the latest offerin from good year. but as far as wat u've asked, i'd go w/ the invos. they grip waaaay better than the t1-rs through corners and they r real quiet too. i will get a set as soon as my gs-d3's r outta great.

The toyo T1R's are great street tires....great dry, good wet performance. As Andrew said, they're usually a good choice for people that run aggresive offsets and wide wheels as they do have a narrower profile than most others. The biggest gripe I ahve with the toyos are the softness of the sidewalls. This is what would deter me from doing any track driving on these tires. The sidewall tends to flex a lot more than other UHP tires, hence why I say they're a great street tire as you would normally not push to those limits. I run on a set of these myself currently.

I don't have any real world experience with invo's, but I will say these are a tire i'm considering.

But if you're looking to run the sizes you mentioned, and you do track every so often, you may want to look into the NT-05's. Only downside is they run a lot blockier than the T1R's and what normally would fit a 275 , may rub w/ these tires. All depends on how aggresive your offsets are on those TE's. I've sat in a car at the California Speedway Roval course with the NT-05's on and they were leaps and bounds better than the T1R's. The NT-05's in the wet probably aren't as confidence inspiring though.

From what I've heard though People have preferred the goodyears over the Invo's. If I make the jump to the Invo's I will let you know my impressions.

Not a fan of T1R as far as performance goes. They feel "slippery" to me. Too much flex in the sidewall as noted earlier.

Actually I do know quite a lot about them. I had a FD that was sponsored by Nitto. I went through a lot of their tires, and if they werent free, I wouldnt spend a penny on them.

I used to race in a spec series and ran toyo ra-1s, and they were great shaved in the dry, and great full tread in the wet, but there were better out there. The T1R doesnt have any similarity other than the brand name...

The Invos were designed to look good, so hence its attraction by the show crowd.

i hear that the invos are "taller" tires compared to the T1R. fyi in case you're worried about using spacers and suspension tweaks

Currently running 20 inch tires with 25k on the Nitto Invo's. Definately would recommend them. I used to get toyo proxes for 4 years. I have no complaints on the nitto invo's I am able to put 25,000 miles on the tires, I'm satisfied.
