run flat wheels?

I was told that you could not replace run flat tires with non run flat using the same wheel. Is this true? Also if car comes with tpms, do you need them on replacement wheels? Will car pressure light come on without them?

What car are you asking about? The M3 doesn't have runflat tires, so it's not an issue. If it's not an M3, you might try the regular E90 part of the board and ask the question there.

As for TPMS, if you're in the USA, the M3 does have TPMS, and "yes" it will trigger a flat tire warning if you don't have them.

What you were told is incorrect. You most certainly can mount run flat tires on virtually any wheel. If you're looking at purchasing aftermarket wheels, you need to make sure they are compatible with TPMS sensors, which essentially means they mount the same way they do on OEM wheels. Most are. Even if they are not, the sensors can be attached with bands around the inside circumference of the wheel. All tire shops do this every day, since TPMS is required on all cars now.

If you swap wheels, you can use the same sensors from the OEM wheels, but you do have to dismount the tire from the wheel. People who are swapping wheels and tires back and forth routinely usually just invest in 4 new sensors for their second set.

JAJ is also correct, you can't run without them without getting constant warnings.
