Who scrapes on a regular basis?

Oh noess!! my new front mtech bumper scraped for the first time yesterday. It seems our e90s and e92s are significantly lower than other cars on stock suspension. So who has their front bumper scraped? I wish I had my clear bra installed on the bottoms before this slight scraping. ::sigh

Stock and mtech are the same height off the ground. I scrape on a weekly basis and I still cringe and get mad every time. It's going to happen though, especially if you lower your car. No matter how you angle your car when going over a major dip or crappy road, there are situations where you have no choice but to scrape.

I scraped it the day I brought the car home. driving into the wash-bay, no less.
As for clear bra, price wise, a new bumper will probably cost in the same range.

I used to have a professional airbrush my bumper back to spec when I used to scrape it.

I gave up after a while.

No matter what you do, you will scrape this shit. As long as the scratches are under the bumper and not visible unless you bend over, you will be ok!

I'm pretty good at driving a low ride. Just have to be super careful.

after driving a slammed Accord, a stock E90 ZSP is nothing. especially with a much shorter front overhang. just go slow over dips and bumps, and angle for driveway/plaza ramps.

My driveway is too high off the street. I have to approach my drive way at an angle everyday...

That said, there are scuffs at the bottom of the front bumper...

I used to scrape, but I got used to not pulling in all the way. Just got to get used to where the front of the car ends and where your stopping block is and try and not pull in too far.

How about when you guys goto parking garages? You must scrape like a mofo.

For example: I went down to Atlantic City last weekend with my stock 330. I stayed at the Tropicana and as I was going up (as well as down) I was think to myself, "How the hell do people with lowered bimmers survive this?" Not only did the ramp have a steep decline, it plateau's at certain points instead of gradually descending. Even I felt like my bump could have been ripped right off!

I digress..

+1

I had an integra + front lip that was way lower than the bimmer, and had 2X as much front overhang. you have to learn how to approach driveways at angles, and stop short of parking curbs. The only time I need to be careful, is when I come up over a hip (like out of an underground parking garage). the long wheelbase on the bmw makes it easier to high-center and scrape the rocker panels. but I don't think I've scraped my front splitters yet.

Until I moved to CA never scraped the car. Got here in August, took me a while to get used to those drainage things at 4-way crosses in Fresno. Never understood why they have an 8" drop from a 4-lane avenue to another avenue. It doesn't rain that much here.

Stephanie - look into the Eibach Pro-Kit - I have them on my E93 and they are the only ones that make E93 specific spring kits - H&R sells the same kit for the E93 as the E92 and don't level the car out as well as the Eibach's.

The Eibach kit for the E93 (part number 2099.140) is a 1.2 inch drop front and 0.6 inch drop rear, the H&R kit is a 1.3 drop front and 1.2 drop rear which leaves the fender gap too big like stock.

I actually just put in the Eibach front springs and did no drop in the back at all.

I scrape rarely and my car is slammed with M-tech front.
You just need to learn how to drive more carefully.
