New Car - 194m Wheels - Not a fan
Hey. So I've been lurking around reading all the great post and opinons. I'm new to the forum, but not new to BMW. My previous 2 were both Imola red 325 coupe's. I'm expecting my new one any day now, 2009 LeMans blue 328i (ZMP, Navi, Sirius,6LF, 6NF,... blah blah). One of my issues, to name a few, is the damm ugly wheels the car comes with. I would love to get the 18" 225m, which I foolishly assumed the car came with when I ordered. Spoke to the dealer about possibly "upgrading" to the 225M's but they said there is no inexpensive way to do this. In Canada there is no way to order the car with different tires as an option. Does anybody have any thoughts or opinions on how I could replace the 194's with the 225's. I know the logical solution may be to sell the 194's and purchase the 225's, but i'm wondering if this is a realistic option. Does anybody want to buy a set of ugly 194m's at the dealer price?

Ouch... sorry to hear that buddy. You MIGHT be able to search for someone in Canada that is unloading his 225Ms, so you'll get it at a discount compared to dealer price. Actually it's possible that I will be selling 225Ms in the near future if I get a set of new 19" bling bling rims with different offsets. I doubt anyone will pay dealer price for 194Ms, especially the way you are advertising them as "ugly" rims.

Keep them as winter mags (swap for winters when the time comes) and get dedicated 18in mags of your choice wrapped in your favorite non-rft high performance tire - and everybody's happy again.

From my understanding, you can trade in your stock wheels towards the purchase of the new ones. You won't get that great pricing but it's an option. My 323i came with some hideous 16" wheels and they offered me $1600cdn for them (traded them in for 19" 269's ).
If you do that you'll need to pick up a set of winter wheels/tires. Personally I'd just hang onto your stock wheels for winter use as they are nowhere near as nasty as the stock 16's my car came with. |

I like the stock wheels. A lot of the aftermarket wheels are too "ricey" for me.

Thanks for all your input. I like the option of keeping the "uglies" for my winter wheels, since I was planning to by some inexpensive rims for my winters anyway. James426, I'll explore the trade-in option first and decide what to do based on their offer. The 193M is also a nice wheel, didn't realize they were so close to the 225M. I'll let you guys know what they offer.
P.S. The wait has been deadly, but this forum has made the wait that much easier. Hopefully I get the car before the end of the week. Last I heard it arrived in Halifax last Wednesday. |
