Any way to have the seats move back when doors open, then once doors closed...
the seats will move back to the driving position? I tried reading the manual and I am a bit confused as to what it can or can't do. What I want to happen is for the seat to move back a bit so its easier to get into the car, and once I am seated with door closed, the seat moves back into the optimal driving position.
A few times I have opened my doors and the seat would automatically move (i forgot if it was forward or reverse) so I know it is possible. I dont have I drive but I do have comfort access. So if anyone has any idea how to do it, I would greatly appreciate it. |

The lat position the seat was in is stored with each key. Then when you unlock, or open the door if you set it that way, the seat moves back to the stored position for that key. So if you take it in for service give the service people your other key and keep yours. When you get the car back and unlock it with your key the seat goes to the correct seating position.
As far as what you are asking the seats to do I have not heard or read any way to do this. I believe if you move it back a little when you are done driving it would work. Then when you unlock the car the seat will be back a little. Once you get in you would have to hit the memory button and it would go back to your normal driving position. But I am not aware of any automatic way to do this. |

I have the same kind of desire for entry. I just unlock and move the steering wheel all the way in and up when leaving, and after entry, pull it all the way down and out. Easy to set the postion and quick. Makes entry easier and dont have to wait for the slow electric motors to move the seat via memory buttons.

Maybe OP can make use of the two memory settings you can store? M1 = seat fully back, M2 = normal driving position.
Sorry but it WOULD require you to hit one of the M buttons on the bottom side of your seat....

My Chevy Suburban has exactly what you're looking for. It's called "Easy Exit". I disabled it, because it isn't really needed in a Suburban; plenty of room to slide out.
That would be a nice feature on a compact sedan. |

This should be a programmable setting for each key (whether to automatically adjust seat and exterior mirrors after remote unlocking, after unlocking and opening a door, or not at all). Note it doesn't do the automatic positioning if the engine is running already.
Key also retains tons of other stuff, like HVAC settings (temp, airflow, intensity, etc.), display settings (units of measure, date, clock, brightness, etc.), entertainment settings (last audio source, presets, volume, speed volume, equalizer, etc.), traffic info settings, vehicle settings (steering wheel buttons, PDC image, lights, door locks, etc.). Pretty cool.

This has been satisfactory for me. It is not automatic, but it is not difficult.

They do, my ex35 has it.
It's a great feature (standard too). It just makes it sooooo freakin easy to get in and out of the car. BMW lacks this option I believe. Only problem: If 2nd key owner is shorter, and you happen to take that key by mistake, once you close the door, the seat just goes non stop and you can get a little stuck. Just have to be quick and press the button. |
