17" with semislicks?
Hi Guys,
since recently I have a E92 335i. I had a Z4M and a set of 18" with semislicks to have fun Smaller then 18 was not possible because of the brakes. On the 335 however 17" would fit. Is this a better choice then 18? They are fure sure lighter and cheaper, especially the tires. Would you suggest to drive the same tiresize in the front and back? Thanks Cheers Marcel |

Yes same size all around possible to use 245-40-17 or even 255-40-17 safely.
Just need to make sure you have the correct offset for 17'' rims... I think 40 offset is what you need |

that is what I am not sure about. AC Schnitzer put 265 front and back on the new M3 and it performed amazing. Also on the Ring you see a lot of E46 M3 / M3 CSL with 265 front and back.
For me the first question though is 17 or 18 inch wheels....? Cheers Marcel |

If your going to be running something like NT555's/NT01's, Advan A408's, or Proxes R888's might as well get 17s...

Thanks for the answers. I currently have Dunlop Direzza 03G which are amazing. Michelin Cup would be an alternative.
Still not sure to have staggered or not.... |

You can run square setup on either 17' or 18'
I have 18' and have been searching for the answer to your question for a while now I run 235-40-18 all around on 18x8.5 ET 32 wheels. And I have been wanting to find out how much wider all around I can get away with. The key here is OFFSET on the wheels (or rolling fenders) up front. Now this info is for E90, I see you have an E92 so not sure if it's the same or not For E90, 17x8.5 ET 40 you can run 255-40-17 all around 18x8.5 ET 35-37 you can run 255-35-18 all around My problem is that my offset is 32, so I am afraid to rub on the fender since Et 32 is a litlle to aggresive (sticks out more) I am now convinced that I can get away with at least 245-35-18 all around, there is actually one member on here running 255-35-18 all around with ET 30 !!! I am not going to push the issue though and stick with 245-35-18 next time around... Keep in mind that other factors can affect this: 1. Tires are different, Slicks or semi slicks tend to run wider than street tires for any given size 2. Fender rolled or not 3. Lowered or nor 4. Negative camber Any of these things can factor in |

Thank you guys. I will go to 17 after finishing my current set of tires and use the 18 wheels in daily driving.
I will check what fits below. I will put a back wheel in the front and see how it fits :-) |
