Oktoberfest-Road Atlanta 2009

Wondered if anybody was going to Oktoberfest-Road Atlanta this year. Have a couple of us from Smoky Mountain CCA and would like to join with others in the area to caravan down if they are interested.

Going to have driving school and autocross at Road Atlanta and lot of other events and banquets. Sounds like a hoot to us..

I'll probably instruct a couple of days at RA. I did it 3 days in a row at VIR, but I was younger then!

I joined BMWCCA so I could go, now I need some help deciding what to do. I have been wanting to do a driving clinic for a while. Of course there is all the hanging out to do

Steven, I was planning on attending this year, but my daughter got accepted to a program in London for her Fall semester. My wife and I are visiting her (and tooling around) for a couple weeks, during OFest.

Anybody in the area should go. I had an amazing time last year at Watkins Glen International. Great time.

Amazing time even with all your work?
I'm glad.

Next year, Road America.
Hey, is a 123d hatchback coming to the US?

I signed up this past week for the Driving School on Wednesday and the AutoX on Thursday. Anyone else made plans yet?

I would love to sign up for some of this stuff. The driving school and AutoX sound really cool. What are the prerequisites?

I think the only pre-requisite is that you are a BMWCCA member. I think there are still some openings for Driving school on wednesday the 30th.

Absolutely! At my 1st RA HPDE, I learned a full face is what BMWCCA recommends.
Go to a store & try on different brands to see what fits best then research em by price online. Apex performance seem to have good prices.

Good to know, I was wondering about the open face vs full face. Any reccomendations on stores in the Atlanta area that sell helmets?

Nope! Unfortunately I bought an open face before I learned what I just told you & will have to replace it. Since I live in Rome i'm gonna have to find a place as well. Let me know you're results. K

Oh, & don't get a motorcycle helmet. A snell rated SA2005 or newer, auto sports helmet is what you're looking for.
