Exotics at Redmond Town Center May 30th

After seeing the pics from last week's E@RTC event, I just had to go to the next one, but this one was a bit different. Too bad I didn't see anyone from here at this one!

Pretty much, we all met at the center of the Redmond Town Center where Lamborghini brought in 3 new models - the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SV, Lamborghini Murcielago LP 560-4 Roadster, and the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder. After a while we all left to Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie where we were to meet the CEO and designer of Automobili Lamborghini for a breakfast/discussion session. I don't have any photos of that because I didn't pay to join in, but I did get a lot of photos of the cars!

Here's a photographic journey of what happened during the day.

All 100+ photos can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jsitthi...7619028022696/

These are just my favorites:

I'll be there again next Saturday. Hope to see some of you there!

Thanks guys!

I recently joined the 6Speed Online forum which is where most of the owners of these exotics hang out. Met a few photographers over there that are very talented as well!

Nice job Twitchy. Lots of really cool cars. The economy must not be doing too bad.....

One question, which lens are you using on the first two shots? They look pretty distorted to me....

Good eye! They are wide-angle shots on a 17-40mm f/4. At the widest focal length, 17mm is the same as 11mm on a cropped sensor.

Twitchy, your 5DMkii is a "full frame" body, meaning there is no crop factor. And if it was a crop body (like a 50D, 1.6x), then you'd multiple the 17mm times 1.6 to get your "full frame equivalent" of 27mm. But that isn't a "fisheye" lens, so that major distortion is a problem.

This review shows the barrel distortion is a massive 3.6%. http://photozone.de/canon_eos_ff/427...0_4_5d?start=1

Sounds like you need DxO!!

Yeah I know I was doing that so I could speak in your terms since you have the D300. Basically if you used a wide-angle lens at 11mm you should get the same FOV as 17mm on my camera.

And I do have DxO. In fact, I used it on these photos too. If there's still distortion then I don't know what to do!

Yep, I know that. Not a noob when it comes to cameras......

Don't know what to tell you. But to me, the distortion is pretty extreme. The lines on the left are moving inwards from left to right (heat lamp, light, etc.) and the lines on the right (hotel, etc.) are moving inwards right to left. Also, the passenger side 911 headlight looks very "wonky" (technical term) in comparison to the driver's side. The whole car looks a little "squished" (another technical term).
