I hit that, hard. However, I do get back from the BVI's the day before, so no harsh comments about my driving that day...

Yes... I am already making excuses.

Sorry, it wasn't in my calendar as I have a wedding in Georgia to attend. Boo.

the clamshells were slow and tough on turn 4. I really liked the sweeping turns at 5 and 6 though. The staggered blocks with 6 cones each were pretty useless. going left into the first slalom was the winner. Rain sucks for times but damn is that shit fun!

that course yesterday was awesome. not too technical, but several areas of the course were set up so that if you were on your line, you could really find a lot of speed. i think the best were the 2 "diagonal chicanes" on the front straight which could be 100% straightlined if you got yourself set up right.

andy's right about that long rear sweeper that came into the 2nd option slalom. really got to get up some speed and FLY into that second option slalom just before coming on to the final runway. speaking of that slalom, i don't know what it was about it, but after like the 3rd run i was ON FIRE back there. anyone else?

THE NUMBERS (am/pm average time)
1. 83.157 - larryn
2. 85.044 - and 1
3. 85.935 - artmasterx
4. 86.893 - bdh1821
5. 87.385 - ml
6. 87.391 - aruttled (by .006 seconds)
7. 89.726 - bimmerbaron

I got no clean runs in the morning, and had swaybar end link issues all day. That 83.157 should really be a 81.157, because of cones.

I also broke my streak of 1st place finishes that stood for two years.

Nice seeing you guys again, and really enjoyed the passenger seat runs.

I think you hit a cone at corner six almost everytime. also what is that clicking sound your car makes while cornering?

Stellar!! Way to go! Especially the novices!! It must have been great to see so many 1ers out there.

If you listen, almost all our cars make a clicking sound when cornering hard, as does ML's M3, I noticed.

Brian heard it on my car and told me it was the dust shield needing to be re-torqued:

It tried to take out a slalom once, but somehow they only counted three cones. Otherwise, I had two clean runs. Oh yeah, there was the big slide off the back turn.

All 1ers, when pushed, click loudly on an autocross course. It's the eLSD making the inside rear caliper chomp on the rotor at a rapid rate, to keep it from spinning. The harder you drive it, the louder and more frequent it is.. Makes sense that mine might be loudest.

Stick a true LSD in there, and the clicky noise goes bu-bye.

All BMWs get oil starved too, unless a baffled oilpan is installed. That's a lot quieter click than the brake one though, so I'm sure that's the one you are probably hearing.

I did not hear brians/mikes clicking as they drove by. Does that mean they drive slow like grandmas?

Not like grandmas, but I'm pretty brutal in the car compared to them. ~5-7 seconds faster is a LOT (times above are with me hitting a cone each run). You should have come by for a ride, Andy.

Btw, was cool that you had your Father there too.

My M clicks really loudly. It's definitely the same as on the 1ers. However, I do have a LSD instead of the e-diff.

I am not sure what caused it, whether it is the e-diff or just normal braking, but my right rear tire has some strange wear on the tread. My left rear did not show the same wear...

The scrape marks on the tread are definitely from braking and not accelerating, I can tell by where rubber remnants are left.

Maybe it was due to the sweepers just before and after the final slalom, causing the right rear to loss most of its traction.

Ill have to catch a ride next time! See if I can learn something.

My pops had a blast! they never get out of first gear in their autocross....so he is having a serious case of jealousy!
