It's pretty crazy. The lady's husband shot her in the face with a shotgun, point blank. They did many surgeries just to get her to the condition she was in on the left. Once you get over kind of the shock of her face on the right and think about what an improvement it must be (she couldn't even breathe on her own or eat solid food) it's incredible.

Oh, I'm sorry, i did not get the memo stating that "I can't believe" phrase is now banned from English language.

Anyhow, clearly the surgery resulted in a marked improvement, both cosmetically and functionally. One can only hope that technology further advances to the point where the remaining deformity can be addressed.

BTW to clear up the original thread title - this is the fourth face transplant surgery ever, but it's the first one to be performed in the USA.

IMO the most amazing thing is her nose. From being completely gone to looking completely normal.

I saw that on the news last night. It is pretty crazy. They've done a lot of work on her and will work on it some more. She is now teaching others not to judge people just because they look different. It's pretty damn difficult to cope with when something like that happens to you so I have tremendous respect for her.
