i just asked my girl friend out without knowing she liked me. I had a few signs she was interested but none of them were strong enough to make me 100% convinced she was interested in me...my advice is go with your gut feeling

I ask because I frequently find myself in these situations.

Girls are all so different though. For example:

Rare girls - SAY they are interested in you more than a friend. How much more obvious can it get? (I've had this happen to me personally).

Majority of other girls - Laugh at you, even when you're not funny, get slightly nervous around you, etc...but never push it any further. Besides, they could just be nervous around you because they know YOU like her.

next time you see her just be like "lets hang out one day, can i get your number" or "lets hang out anytime you're available"
once that day comes take her somewhere where you two can get to know each other. thats what i usually do. but make sure its only you two. no 3rd wheels or anything like that

The best way of knowing that she is interested is calling her at some unusual time, asking her to go to some unusual event, and see the response. Asking her for the number, telling her you're interested has failed written all over it. Be normal and have fun, nobody is gonna tell you the right answer, because nobody really knows it ... soon enouugh (if you have something going there) she will call you.

A girl taking your phone number is an essentially meaningless gesture. Getting a girls phone number is also, for the most part, meaningless. Calling a girl who's given you her phone number, having her answer and sound excited to hear you is meaningful, particularly if plans ensue.
