Extra cigarette lighter plug
I am looking for an elegant solution to mount a portable navigation system like a MIO 710 or TomTom device on the dashboard of my 320d, non iDrive of course, non Logic 7, without having a bunch of cables running all over. The dashboard has a cover plate, that might allow me to add another cigarette lighter plug as a power source.
On RealOEM.com the part is referred to as ‘COVER FOR CENTER SPEAKER, SINGLE SCOOP 51457123749’, the plug used in the centre console ‘PLUG-IN SOCKET WITH PLUG 61346947184’. Does anyone know if there are power cables behind that cover that can be tapped into for this purpose? Would it be hard to get a cable to the fuse box? |

BMW sells a cable that will plug into the flashlight to get the entra power plug.

I would like to have the power plug on top of the dashboard, right below the windshield, I believe the logic7 has the centre speaker there.
I will have another look, but I think there is no flashlight in the European (Belgian) version. Last edited by DirkB; 07-28-2006 at 02:59 AM.. |

Was there ever a solution here? Is there a way to install a power outlet at the top of the dash board, under the center speaker cover in the non Logic 7 cars? I am also interested in this for my nuvi 350. Any help or info is appreciated! If all else fails I will probably run the cable along the dash trim like another member on this forum, back to the plug in the center armrest.

Hi,
I've taken out the cover before and was also trying to find a power line under the center cover... unfortunately there are none... Finally I run an additional wire to the fuse box... Cheers |
