Importing Things
If I were to import something from the USA (car parts) at a price of just over £1000 would I be charged here for importing them?
Ditto Japan. Thankyou.

Yep - based on my recent custom's charges, I'd add another 30% to the cost!

Didn't think it would be that much any way round it?

Items less than £36 and 'gift's can be exempt from import duties. Unlikely £1000 worth of car parts would go unnoticed through the courier. After all they make around £15-20 everytime they charge import duty on behalf of Customs and Excise. The US courier by law has to have the value/details of the contents of the package listed on the packing slips. It's not as lucrative in importing from the US as it once was.
Ditto Japan. |
