Many of you might remmember that i had made a thread a few months ago asking about motorcycles and my whole situation. That can be found HERE

I guess majority of you will not read the entire thread so i will summarize.

I am 17 and wanted to get a motorcycle really bad. Not knowing anything at all about bikes i wanted to get the "best" looking ones like the 600cc supersports. Like the Yamaha R6 and Suzuki GSXR-600. I was ravaged by some that said it was fine to start on a 600cc but even more said I should start on a 250cc. I did some research and realized that the people who told me to get a 250cc where in fact correct.

I claimed I would be responsible and not do anything stupid but I soon realized that responsibility goes out the window when your on a motorcycle and at the humble age of 17 and having a 600cc at the twist of your throttle it is just a way of commiting suicide expensively, not to mention I have no experience.

Anyways I convinced my parents(after months of begging) to let me get one. I got my thoughts together and made a wise decision. I went and bought a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250cc.

I got it a couple months ago and it was winter here so I had to garage it as soon as I got it. The weather has started to get better and I got some pictures taken. They are by no means professional or as good as the pictures taken by the members here. But here they are.

Good looking bike and a wise decision. Just be careful - you can still easily kill yourself on that.

i guess it depends on your comfort level, i took the MSF motorcycle course and didnt know ANYTHING about motorcycles, i came out of the class and rented a 600 and did fine. i then bought an r6..so basically my starter bike was a 600 and have ridden r6's since then...again its all dependant on the rider, and your riding style/outlook on riding. some people shouldnt start with 600's, some people may every well start on a 1000, and then some people should not be on bikes period. 250 is a safe bet and youll be fine...worst case scenario, youll end up getting sick of the power on a 250 too soon and upgrade to a 600 anyway, atleast you gave it some real thought and not just went all out on a 600. i could have done the same, but i cam eout alright...have fun and stay up

no offense razzy, but yeah if your looking at getting our wife a bike this is a good bike to get, its real popular with the ladies, i guess because its very forgiving, being a 250 and it looks better than any other 250 out there on the market, with the exception of the yamaha r125 ofcourse

, which you cant get in the us any damn way

lol none taken. Great beginner bike for the ladies or as a matter of fact anyone who is serious about riding.

Thank you. I sometimes wonder how I pulled it off. All i know is it took alot of persuasion. My parents were not happy about it and at a certain point I even told them I would drop the entire thing. But i just couldn't. I've always wanted to get a motorcycle and since I don't want this to be my last motorcycle I started off with this.

The thing about supersport 600cc and higher is that you will never be able to learn the ins and outs of riding when you start that big. Also anyone who knows about bikes knows that the best thing about this sport is the turns and twisties. Learning how to turn and maneuvere a 600cc is much harder than to do it on a 250cc. Besides, I think its got enough power to kill you if you act stupid. not to mention it will top out quicker than 90% of cars on the road. Not that I would do anything like that.

my good friend has an R1 which is a damn beast that practically no car could hang with.

tonight we changed the front tire ourselves. took over 2 hours and involved cutting the tire in half with a chainsaw while it was still on the rim. FML
