Shadowline Trim on 330i - how hard is install?
I was up at my local BMW dealership today and after looking at an X3 with the shadowline trim on the B-pillar and back window piece I was convinced that was the direction I wanted to go (it doesn't leave fingerprints like the matte black trim). As some of you may know I have the carbon fiber trim on my B-pillar right now and I'd like to replace it with the shadowline but here's the problem: The 6 trim pieces come to $195, which I'm willing to pay. But apparently it would take 5 hours to install because all of the weatherstripping has to be removed (and ultimately the entire area around the window or something) and would cost $500 in labor which I refuse to pay.
Therefore, how hard is it to install this stuff? Does anyone know? I guess I'd be willing to spend the 5 hours on it but I don't want to mess anything up. BTW: The shadowline trim for the E90 is new and just came in this month. |

where did you get the part numbers? I may be interested in this also as I can just pay one of the guys in the back 100 to install it for me, and I get the parts for cost.

Good to know that shadowline is available.
Regarding installation, if it says 5 h, that would probably be for someone who has done it before and knows what they are doing. A first time installation would probably take longer. It would require less time to wipe fingerprints for as long as you have your car than to do this, in other words.

Look for my DIY on the chrome window trim install... I did it myself, and certainly took less than 5 hrs. Its the same install, just a different trim... |

I sorta can ... I'm just confused as to what part#'s are what, and what's actually needed and what's not. Realoem lists about 4 different part #'s all for the same indicated piece.
