Autodim Rear view mirror Advice Retrofit
Guys I rally wanted to retrofit the rear view mirror due to the smaller clown nose and the autodim function, got the retrofit harness from BMW which was about 25 bucks and found a autodim mirror or fleabay for 40 bucks, tried following the instructions on the retrofit guide which is posted on this site but I cant seem to get the dimming to work the clown nose is working but I think the dimming isnt working i tested it at night and no luck, I am just wondering if I wired it incorrectly, I did look in the DIY section.. And do you think I should take it to the dealer and get them to finish it off by probably charge me an hour labour or something. Any help advice will be appretiated. or a confirmation of wiring by someone who already has done this. Thank you
P.s. I think I could find where to connect the ground wire not sure of the wire is totally nessesary. Thx |

I just did the autodim/homelink this weekend and the ground isn't necessary for US cars...don't know about UK cars.
The stealership will charge you $$$ to take a look. You'd probably be better off playing with it yourself, there can't be more than 3-4 wires if you don't have homelink, right? I know when I did it, it was a challenge to get the wires all the way down in the wiring harnesses to make contact. Did you open the clips so the pins would go all the way down?

I did put the clips all the way and thought I followed the whole DIY but the mirror will not dim, the clown nose light works ok, I might just go through and make sure I got everything the way its suppose to... but all looked ok..
