Soft top removal
Does anyone have instructions to remove the soft top? Mine has stopped working and only the motor is covered under the warranty. I have a feeling that it's the mechanical parts and not the motor because I can hear it work, but the top wont go up.

before you do that though, try giving it some help getting up while you hold the button. mine did this once and i needed to give it a little push to get it to catch and move. haven't had an issue since then. |

Thanks a lot! I've tried pretty much everything short of taking it apart. When it's opening, it goes halfway down very slowly and then kind of drops down the rest of the way but doesn't close and sit in place properly. When closing, I hear the motor work but nothing happens

Spaceman, it really sounds like your motor is shot...it's trying but does not have the guts to produce the hydraulic pressures needed to open/close the top properly.
I wrote those two How-To's over on Z4-Forum.com. I broke the How-To's up into two parts. One for removing the top and one for replacing the Soft Top Motor. It really is not hard to remove and replace your Soft Top motor. Just takes a little bit of time.... |
