Hit a truck tire on the highway - Repair front bumper or get new one???
Well, as the title says, I hit a truck tire on the highway today and put a rather large dent right by the drivers side fog light. It's about the size of my fist and well, it looks like crap. I wish i had time to move out of the way of the tire, but all i had time to do was yell $hit and that was all.
So i guesss my options are - 1. Repair the bumper after getting an estimate from the dealership or 2. Look into another bumper entirely . I was thinking Kerscher, but i dont remember which other ones make the full bumper setup. Also - i have headlamp washers, and i dont know if any of the bumpers have that built in, which could be a huge problem. If anyone has sugestions i'l quite open for sugestions. Thanks everyone. And before anyone yells at me - |

sorry to hear dude, I'm w/ Asiann in going with an aftermarket bumper.
Kerscher gets my vote, they make different bumpers for ones w/ or w/o lamp washers. Hamann also makes a full front bumper replacement, but Kerscher ALL THE WAY, IMHO.

Sorry to hear what happend to your baby. In couple of weeks, she will be good as new. By the way, I finally got the chance to open the LUX Rings you sent to me. Today I purchased a hydraulic jack to remove the tire, so I can have access to the wheel well. My car is a 330i with ZSP and my vehicle is to low for me to access the jack point on my car. So I have to exchange it tomorrow and hopefully install the LUX Rings and post some pics on the board.

Maybe consider the Mtech kit. The front bumper can be ordered for cars with CWP (washers). PM KSFrogman...he has it on his car. Apparently kit (front, sideskirts, and rear) can go for $1250 or so. If you just want the front...many people here only want the rear...you could part it out.

Recently fudged up my front bumper too last friday. I have a parking spot from hell. There's a stone archway that I have to pass through to get to my walled in parking space. Unfortunately there's usually two doctors that park infront of the archway one happens to drive an SUV which doesnt help (I live above a doctors office) and the angles I have to take getting out and coming in to avoid taking out their cars are pretty severe and put me close to the sides of the archway. Last Friday morning I went to pull out and I got too close with the driver's side of the front bumper and put some nasty deep gouges in it. Really wish I had front PDC, it would have saved my bumper that day. Oh well Guess I have a reason to get the Kerscher bumper I've wanted now.
*Update* Received my estimate from the repair shop at the BMW dealer. They want Euro 869,98 to repair the OEM bumper. Insurance has said they will pay everything over the deductible so Im gonna see if they will let me get a Kerscher since its the same price. Heres a diagram of my evil parking spot: Last edited by Kamando; 07-17-2006 at 08:03 AM.. |
