Another reason to move out of IL.
As if the taxes, potholes, budget deficit and winters aren't bad enough...now this?

If you feel strongly about this call your (and more if you have time) State Congressional members, both State and House.
Let them know what you think, I know I am going to. It doesn't always work, but it has a better chance than doing nothing! |

Alas, in a representative government, the laws passed are only as good as the people who write them....who in turn are only as good as the people who elect them. And keep electing them.
So yes, your best bet is to move.... And they wondered why I didn't stick around after I graduated.... |

I've been working in Marshall, IL on and off since New Years. A week or two ago I was listening to NPR on my way home and they were talking about the budget problems and how they were going to have to raise taxes on this and that, and I'm thinking STOP SPENDING YOU IDIOTS!
Our politicians are all complete morons I'm afraid. |

Granted, all politicians will listen only as far as their base beliefs and political persuasion will allow. But if they are undecided or neutral on an issue then phone calls and letters (emails) do have an influence. Obviously you will never talk a pro-choicer into being a pro-lifer with a stinking phone call. But if enough people bend their collective ears against "the machines" giving out tickets it has a chance of working. Please call and get involved. And if your Rep. votes FOR this and similar items, then help out that persons opponent the next time the culprt is up for reelection! Here is a link to the bill's info- http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/bill...9&SessionID=76 You will not talk Terry Link (D) out of this of course as he is the bill's sponsor, BUT, call/write the members of the committee and we might get somewhere. If it's killed in committee it would be great. http://www.ilga.gov/senate/committee...ommitteeID=760 Don't just call the Republicans either, call them all. It's not always a party line vote on stuff like this. I will write up a letter soon. Today is kinda jammed up for me, but I will post it here by the end of the weekend and when I do feel free to copy it or base your own on it. |
