Compact Spare on xi
I've got an '07 335xi and have purchased a LeatherZ compact spare to use with my non-runflat tires. Does anyone know if this will cause a problem with the X-drive due to a different rolling radius?
It never occured to me that this would be a problem until I bought a new Subaru for my wife and noticed that they warned to disable the AWD (by removing a fuse) when using the compact spare.

That's a good question.
I would assume you would be find by turning DTC completely off |

I don't think turning off DTC would work. DTC is traction control, not AWD disable. Even if you have DSC and DTC completely disabled the AWD is still working.

In my opinion I think a small spare would cause problems with the XI. If people are having problems running a difference of more then 1% OD on their tires then running a compact spare would probably cause a problem also. Probably a reason why BMW gave us runflats and didn't want to put a full or compact spare in the trunk.

i got this after reading this thread...
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=297373 supposedly within 2% of stock tires. i'm not intending on driving long distances with, but just to get when i need to go to repair or replace my tire. it's a good alternative to runflats. i need the cargo net but have a tirerack tote and it doesn't take up much space. i still pack groceries in the trunk!
