Golf clubs with top down?
So to clarify, will you be able to put a golf bag in the new Z4 with the optional pass through with top down? i know it can be done with top up, but i'm wondering whether it can be done with top down. it looks to be a tight squeeze, with the roof stowed in the trunk.

anyone?
The press release seems to suggest that the z4 can accept one golf bag with top down under the roof and using the pass through, and 2 golf bags with top up, but it is a bit unclear. also, i understand with the 3 series convertible, you can fit one golf bag under the open roof using pass through, so that makes me think it might be doable in the Z. i play a lot of golf, so this is important to me. thanks.

thanks for the clip, Z4Beemer, but that video shows two golf bags in trunk with top up. I want to know if it can fit one golf bag with top down.
..and don't tell me to get a volvo, useless response. |

thanks, but it actually shows a pair of skis and ski poles, not a golf bag, at 5:02. hopefully since you can fit a pair of skis, you can also fit a golf bag, although skis aren't nearly as big as a golf bag.

I think it's still possible though(to get a golf bag in with the top down). At 5:11 into the video, it shows that the bag can fit in front to back in the trunk. The bag they use doesn't look THAT much bigger than the skis and poles together. If I see a video (or hear otherwise) that the trunk will hold a bag with the top down, I'll pass that info on. i am pretty sure it works with one bag with the top down. for what i have seen on photoes it works. With the roof up you can have 2. They will lay in a T. upside down. When the roof is down you cant have the one that lays paralle to the bumper! The one that goes tru the skibag still will fit, the trunk should be high enough, based on the volum of the trunk.

Z4 Golf Clubs - yes with the top down
I have a 2007 335i coupe now and it has been a great car but I miss my cabriolet. When I bought this one, I didn't buy the 335i cab as it didn't fit golf clubs. I am not sure I like the looks of the 335i cab with the hard anyway.
I recently drove the 2010 Z4 as a test drive and brought my clubs with me. I have a normal carry bag with a stand. Here is the deal, one and only one set will fit in the trunk with the top down. As well you will have to live with the clubs sticking out about 6 inches through the pass through between the seats. It does not interfere with anything the only concern I have is the possible rattle of the clubs. Now with the top up, you can get two carry bags in the trunk. One through the pass through and another across side to side but you have to take at least the driver out any possible your 3 wood/metal and store them in the other carry bag. Great fun car to drive if you are looking for a roadster. Drives tight to the road, hugs the corners and sounds like a beast. I personally am going to wait out for the Z4 2011 sDrive35is. This will have the M package, 18" wheels etc. along with the juiced 3 litre engine pushing 335 hp and 332 lo-ft torque. This should scream. Lastly, the 335i Cab now can fit one set of clubs too with the top down but you have to push the back seats down. Basically you have a sedan/cab with two seats if you travel everwhere with your clubs like I do. I also drove the new Audi S5 with the supercharged 6. Beautiful car. It doesn't drive as aggressively feeling as the 335i cab but it is every bit as quick just smoother. However, the interior is to die for. Much nicer then the 335. So if I go with a roadster it will be the Z4 sDrive35is but if I go for the 4 seater, it will be the Audi. Oh by the way, you can put a set of clubs in the truck with lots of room to spare with the top down and without going through the pass or putting the back seats down. Bonus. I hope this helps, |

Good info. Although, I'll only need to know that once a year is that's about as often as I golf. Now, if I could only put a bike in the trunk. They don't recommend putting a bike rack on the Z4 either.

I tried for 2 minutes with the top down and could not get the clubs in the trunk, so I gave up. I may have succeeded if I took more time. Not worth the struggle.
No big deal. They fit in the passenger area just fine. Just tell you golf partner to get his own ride to the course, because you feel like driving there with the top down. |

this is OT, but that was a somewhat odd video - maybe I'm being too sensitive about it, but the narration seemed consistantly biased toward the Porsche. Almost like it was a Porsche commercial masquerading as an "unbiased review".
In the Boxter, she "immediately feels comfortable" while the Z4 "doesn't have such a sporty appearance and is (narrator now sounding somewhat disapproving) more on the elegant side" The Boxter name is not, he announces, "some randomly chosen name" as opposed I guess to the random (!?) and therefore clearly inferior name "z4" He gives credit to the Z for more torque, then quickly notes higher weight while ignoring the Z's .1 second advantage accordingly to his own numbers in the 1-100km/hr. (although oddly, the on-screen graphic shows them both at 5.8 sec even as he states the boxter is 5.9.) And then the roof - it's said that it is a little easier to operate, but quickly noted that it takes 8 seconds longer and can only be operated when stopped. And of course there is the golf club problem. Clearly the Boxter does handle it better than the Z, but it's never mentioned amoung these negatives that you are getting the advantages of a hardtop. Doesn't matter in the slightest, hardly worth the time to type this but I thought it was interesting...(and I'm procrastinating a bit on some work...) |
