I want to put the 162 18's on my 325i, what will the ride be like

We test drove in the 325i with stock 16's the ride was great, If I put the 18's on it without having the sports package will the ride suffer any, I dont want to lose any of the ride comfortability, I know I am going to a smaller tire with the stock 18's but has any one had any gripes or is it still ride fantastic, does anyone know if the car will still look good without the sports package suspension, does the sports package suspension, lower the car any or is it just for turning purposes??

welcome to the forums,

people put aftermarket wheels (or oem) on e90's all the time, if you put a wider tire on it some people say there is more road noise. I am looking to put 162's on my 325 from bmwwheels.com, I just have to save up about 2k, 1300 for wheels and 600 to 800 for tires. As for comfort you will have to wait for someone who has done this to tell you. I had a friend who owned a VW corrado that had put BBS wheels on and he said the ride changed a little, nothing that would really bother you though, hope I helped.

I had an E46 non sport and upgrade to M spoke 17 wheels and I really like this set up since it's not that stiff at all. So in your case going to #162 is the best way to go.

Question on wheels?????

Would the warranty be voided if I change to 18' (162)wheels on a 325i non-sport package? I asked the sales guy that I wanted to chnge the wheels on my car and he told me that the only way to do it is to upgrade the car to a 330i sport package. If not I would void the waranty. Is this true?

I put 162/18's with RFT's on my 325i non-SP. Looks 1000% better even with the stock springs. The only difference in ride is slightly more tramlining.

The 16's look way to small IMO... Go for it!

I went from 161's (325 sport package) to 162's, and there was very little that changed in the way of handling or engine response...

I ordered 162s on non-sports suspension. I was very apprehensive on taking delivery, because my old e39 had 17 inch wheels/non-sports and the ride was pretty dire. I was pleasantly surprised by the e90, however: clearly the engineers have set up the suspension to work with big, low-profile run-flats and the ride is very acceptable (better than most cars I have owned).

Having said that, I have driven the same wheels on an e90 with sports suspension and the ride was way too firm for me, but I guess it's just a question of personal preference (and how good the roads are where you live). Most European manufacturers retune their suspension setups for the US to cater for local taste & road surfaces (i.e. softer suspension). Here in Europe they (unfortunately) assume everyone wants 'rock hard' so we can drive around all the bends we have over here at 90mph
