335d the new motor of the year?

Given the robust nature of diesels, is the 335d motor the future? There are some great tunes out there and these tunes will only improve as more 335d(s) make it our shore.

No cooling issues.
No wastegate issues.
Gobs of torque.

So who's up to burning some oil? I can imagine it may be a problem finding diesel at the track

It's heavier. Plus it has to have urea injected for emission purposes - some extra 5 gals, and the handling is not on par with gasoline version. Torque is incredible, but stock for stock it's still much slower than 335i. I personally prefer gasoline version of 335.

lmao.

We've had the petrol vs diesel wars for a long time in the European forums. Wait till there's a following, it's going to be as heated as the current piggyback wars.

Oh, and also, both versions have been put round a track and got exactly the same lap time... so no, there isn't anything in it... just how you prefer your power delivery.

I agree in stock form -- petro wins out. But we are talking a "tuned" diesel powerhouse. Word on the street is the 335d is rock-solid and very tune friendly.

Yeah I was looking at one the other day and it was kind of funny to see this little round opening in the L/R bumper cover to put the Urea in.

I still can't get over that fact that a component of urine is used to clean up emissions.
