335i Turbos
For all you who diss other cars and kiss BMW ass, did you know the turbo's in the 335i are made by MHI? Mitsubishi Heavy Industries! Seems these days that even bmw knows where to look for quality product. Japan.

The navi LCD screen is made by Alpine, which is in Japan also. The Bridgestone tires are from Japan. What's your point?

Someone must have hurt CSL's feelings by suggesting Japanese cars are inferior to BMW.

I'm sure there are other parts made from different countries just like any other car so wouldn't surprise me at all. The end product is what we care about the most anyway!

Incidentally, the GM-produced transmissions have proved to be among the better units BMW has used over the years, so please get over your ignorant biases.

negative--Z4 roadster, Z4 coupe, Z4M roadster, Z4M coupe and the X5 are made in South Carolina. The X3 is assembled in Austria as one of the previous responders to this post mentioned.

For the love of Pete don't open up flamethrowers on me.....
Back to the subject of "335i turbos" - I'm gathering from research its the first time a twin turbo has been used in an inline-6? - One for 3 and another for the other 3? - You always hear/read about factory turbos being set at much lower "boost" levels than the motor can handle; does anyone think it possible (or wise) to put a manual boost controller on the 335i for more power? AGAIN, PUT THE IGNITER AWAY, PUT THE FLAMETHROWER DOWN - I'm really serious about leaving the "ricer" community for this 335i and I'm just probing and reading like a madman. Thx, Andrew Tucson, AZ |

the supra had twin turbos as well....however im sure you will need more than just a manual boost controller just for the fact that you wont know what the a/f ratios and so forth will be at higher boost and what is safe for the engine, AND what the engine can safely handle...
