Spacer concerns

I'd like to install 10 or 12mm spacers in rear. But from what I've read on the Rouge and H&R sites I can't install them. I do see many of you are using 12mm spacers, but how? My concern is with the statement made in the Special Notes
about 10mm/12mm spacers
box on the link http://www.rogueengineering.com/Merc...tegory_Code=WH

and this http://hrsprings.com/site/applicatio...rnotes/18.html

any comments?

It's interesting that H&R & Rogue actually posted these information at their site because some have accidentally crack their spacers due to lack of this information. I guess I'll post your link to the thread talking about this issue.

FYI, I Use H&R TRAK+ spacers 10mm (R) & 12mm (F). For the rear you have to grind the hubcentric about 2mm because the rear hubcentric is taller/longer than the front. More explanation posted in this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23117

I just ordered my 12mm's from Rogue last Sunday, and I don't recall seeing that disclaimer. Mine will be in today, so I'll see if they fit properly.

Hey, thanks. I was wondering if grinding the lip would be an acceptable mod. Sounds like it is, but I would hope grinding 2mm away would not be a problem when I go back to the OEM wheels for winter and autox. Thanks for the tip. I have checked out that other thread, but have not gone back to it in a few days. I didn't want to hi-jack the thread.

I did talk to the people at H&R and Rouge about their disclaimers and it did confirm my concerns. I though I'd ask you guys here of the real world experiences.

I think it's quite safe. the front actually has a shorter hubcentrix. That's why 10mm spacer can only be use on the front (if you haven't grinded the rear). So grinding the rear to match the front, why not... OEM wheels have the same spec either for the front or rear right?

Ok, OEM wheels would work fine with the minimal grinding it seems. But I have another concern about front spacers. I'd like to use 5 or 10mm on the front but with my front hub contour of 12.6mm using a 10mm spacer (rember there is no hub-centric lip on the spacer Rouge or H&R) there will only be 2+mm of lip left to center the wheel which is not enough especially on a wheel with a chamffered hole. Using a 5mm spacer is not much better because you only have 7+mm left on the hub contour to center the wheel. My wheel's chamffered section is 7mm deep. From what I see the only other option is to use Turner's hub extender for the thin spacers. Turner said that the extender will not fit the E46 Xi model, but have not tried yet on the E90 Xi. Here's the hub extender.
