I think my knurled knobs for climate control in my e92 are broken

This winter I have kept my climate control on AUTO (which I do all the time) and it has been mainly around 40-45 during the day. I set the temp to 72 on each side and the car warms up but I notice that eventually the vents in the front will start to blow a little bit of cool air (maybe cuz the temp in the cabin has risen above 72 and is trying to cool it down to 72 again?). The weird thing here is my knurled knob in the front of the car is set all the way to red yet cool air is still coming out at that point. I feel the back vents and warm air is coming out of those regardless of if i turn that knurled wheel to blue or red....very weird. I keep the recirculation button on and the A/C Snowflake in the winter is off. Any ideas?

I've never heard the term "knurled" before.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

that's the descriptor BMW uses.

The knurled knob is located on the central vents with the left side painted blue (cold) and the right painted red (hot).

knurl - Done to roughen a surface or to increase a diameter.

Hope your significant other will enjoy the increased diameter

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure the rear vents have their own "knurled" knob to control heat/cold.

Is there warm air coming out from the floor vents or the vents directed at the windshield?
