CAn u shave offset???
I contacted a seller with some real OEM M6 wheels and was wondering if they would fit on my E90....I was told I can make them work by shaving the offset..
Is this something that can be done or just some way to get me to buy them?

I would only feel safe shaving the most 5mm, but even then, I wouldnt do it. Plus, your gonna need a hella lot more than 5mm or 10mm too.

I'd rather buy new wheels. My rear is 20mm. I was thinking of shave 5mm off, but what the hell, it will cost the same to buy a new pair and sell off the old ones. Also, it gives me peace of mind to use new wheels instead of shaving the old ones.

Lots of people do that here. There is a popular machine shop in my town that specialized in doing this. Mostly they do wheel/PCD conversion. So for instance, Honda Civic uses BMW/Mercedes rim, etc. Sometimes they do shave the rims too. Not sure if they got problem in the future. But this seems to be a very popular modification.

Without spending a lot of time thinking it over it seems like removing a small amount would be ok, like if you wanted to take off 5mm to prevent rubbing or something. But, like others have said, I don't think shaving a large amount would be very good unless you spent some time analyzing the effect of your change.
