Did you purchase the Convenience Package from BMW Assist?

As for your BMW Assist, you need the Convenience Plan from BMW Assist. It's like a couple hundred bucks a year. Hit the SOS button...or Customer Service from your iDrive. They'll take it from there. It takes a few days for the Search to be activated after that. Then again, I hear they have internet in prison. Go ahead and play with your whatnot in public. Then you can have all the free searches you want! And this is the one time I'm glad nobody put up this smiley:

IF you have the 2009 Idrive, you might try just using the built in search features - which are now pretty good. I'm not sure the BMWsearch would add all that much.

I think the built-in search is subscription-based as well, no?

Ah, there we go. I don't have iDrive so I never paid any attention to the distinction. Danke.
