Ok, I've been reading a lot about certain spacers cracking and so on. What's everyones experience been with spacers like Rogue Engineering, H&R, etc????

Don't buy H&R spacers. They are cheaply engineered and they crack within a few months.

How long have you had them? Try removing them from a rusted hub, they will crack at the centric ring.

that's why you put anti seize on the hub when you install them

sounds like you have a quality of installation problem rather than a quality of product problem

I ran spacers on my E30 for over 100,000 miles over 7 years or so with no issues, and I autocrossed a lot back then...... not sure what brand they were, tirerack sent them with my wheels I'd bought from them

The hubs still rust no matter how much cleaning and anti seize you use. After only 3 months they cracked so I would say that is a product issue. I have nothing against H&R I have their springs on my car.

I'm thinking about Rogue Engineering 12mm's for my car. Overall, I've heard really good things about them. I think I may go ahead and get those.

I'm running Rogue 12mm on the rears, only because they came with the longer bolts. The Rogue is also purposely machined with an diagnal (1mm) outer lip to aid in the removal process. I think they're 6061 aircraft aluminum for light weight and strength.

I believe you cannot put H&R 10mm spacer on the rear of E90. The original center hub is too long and will hit and crack the center ring of the spacer. This will happen when you tighten the wheel. You will not notice it until you take the spacers off. However, this won't happen if you use the 10mm spacers at front since the front center hub is shorter than the rear.

I knew this because I use H&R TRAK+ spacers 12mm Front & 10mm Rear. My shop had the original rear center hub grinded for 2mm to keep it out of contact with the spacer ring. So all good now.

Actually, before the hub's grinded, you can feel it that the H&R 10mm spacers do not sit very well when you put it on the rear.

I'm not sure why H&R didn't put a note or warning on the manual. Maybe only the newer BMW model have longer hub?

Interesting, this is also why it was so hard to remove when I changed wheels. That is very informative info.

No one install H&R spacers without gringing the hub centric ring or else they will crack and be nearly impossible to remove

Only the 10mm spacer on the rear though. 12mm or above seem fine. no grinding needed.

I think H&R is a superior product. I've been using this spacer since my previous Bimmer. More than 5 years old that is. No problem at all.

I used H&R 15mm on my e90s rears, looks good !
before I put it in, I put moly grease between the plates and axle hub prevents any corrosion and seizing problems in the future.

I believe greasing is important, due to the fact that its dissimilar metals, any introduction of moisture between then will act as electrolyte passing +/- charged cell and presto! exfoliation corrosion!

I went with H&R because its a German product, in my hopes they know better the issues of BMW performance, Unlike, the Americans which just farm outs its jobs overseas. I would not be surprised if the same people that make H&R stuff are the ones the makes it for the other competing US companies.
HA!

Im keeping an eye on the rear tires inner shoulder/side walls for any earlier wearing than the outside thread, also did note immediately after the spacers were installed that a slight play in the steering wheel was observed. Is it just me

When you put them on, did you make sure that the spacer sit nicely? I mean no obstruction and the surface of the spacers completely touch/flat with the brake drum.

I hope your spacers have a revised design to accomodate longer center hub.

Running 5mm H&R in front, 12mm Rogue in back. No issues with either. I change my wheels a few times a month tough, so no chance of them seizing.

I think the problem only for the rears due to longer center hub. I guess you can try fit your 5mm H&R spacer to the rear. If your spacer have the center hub extension like the 10mm or above, I think you will know what I mean.
