So what kind of range do you get?

I filled up my car with 89octane about a month ago and got 380mi out of the tank of gas. I generally get about 325mi out of a tank of premium. So, I figured I'd ask the question:

What kind of mileage (ie total miles) do you guys get out of a tank of gas?

...EDIT: Just double checked, and I actually got ~370mi out of the tank of midgrade.

I've never actually ran it dry yet. I usually fill it when the DTE shows 30 mi remaining. But my typical range is about 380-385 miles on 91.

Isn't 91 octane minimum? It depends how much time I drive on the highway vs city driving. It can go from 315 to almost 400 miles!

cripes, I guess I need to adjust what I'm doing. Right now, my commute is about 50/50 hwy/city. Hmm, maybe I'll try adjusting what time I do my commutes to avoid more traffic. The non-highway streets allow near 50mph when there's less congestion.

But yeah, the 89 octane was on the reccommendation of the dealer. My car's got a bit of a rough idle, so I threw some in to run some different detergent thorough the engine. I wasn't expecting to get so much better mileage as a result though! (My driving wasn't really too different from what it is normally). Will have to try the mid-grade again to see if it was a fluke or something.

lol, notice how those little stickers always say 'a minimum octane rating of xxx'?
So, if its a min of 89, and the recommendation is 91, then I'm not really too concerned.

the car ran fine on silver, no issues at all.

I average about 900km, or 540 miles, but some may consider the comparison unfair

hmm
i think the octane rating is different in australia,

here regular is 91RON , premium 95RON and high octane is 98RON

i get about 450km's from a tank , in full city driving
is that too low?
it seems you guys are getting really good mileage!

I generally fill up at 1/8-1/4 of a tank and reset the avg speed and mpg meters at each fill up. With highway driving I have gotten as much as 430 miles from one tank (93 octane). However, I just recently got about 200 miles from one tank. If I remember correctly it was about 13.5 mpg (at an avg speed of 12 mph!!!). I wasted an entire tank on NYC traffic!

ugh. I love New York City, but I'd never want to drive there. Now, NY state north of the city... Now that's a different matter.

MINIMUM OCTANE IS 91 "PREMIUM UNLEADED". You are asking for trouble running less than the required/reccomended octane gasoline. Also, if any parts related to octane of gasoline used fail, BMW could void that part of the warranty. Also, you are loosing some of the performance(power) of your e90 by using lower than reqired octane gas.
Pay the extra 10 cents per gallon more and use the appropriate fuel....you will thank yourself for it later

Wow 450 what do you do? Only 55 mph all the time on open freeways?

The most that I got to was like 405 on a long highway trip.

I have not yet used a full tank of gas but I just drove a 200 mile trip nonstop and the Idrive trip computer for the 200 miles said 29 MPG consumption. I was pretty happy the car only has 800 miles on it and I was going in the range of 75-85 with one burst to 100.
