This gas range mileage warning is really starting to bother me...

Why does it have to go nuts and warn me when its under 50 miles left in terms of range on my gas? Takes away the time and date, makes that chiming noise, all to tell me that within 50 miles I have to gas up? Anyone else find this absurd?

Also, E90 experts...anyway to change this to only go off within 15 miles or so, for example?

i hear you man, it indeed is very annoying. especially, as you said, when it blocks other information. one would think the chime and a big yellow triangle would be enough. i would only want to be notified about it so much if i had an oil leak or something else of more serious nature.

Hey live in Buffalo and get "warned" that it is cold out every morning in the winter with that little snow flake. I usually end up yelling at the car "No Sh$T!!"

As for the gas warning... just fill up again before 50 miles.. Never see it again

Yea the snowflake is annoying about the cold, it just beeps once, but what is MORE annoying is the seat belt chime, I mean within 5 seconds it goes off and never stops. If you take it off in a lot or something and still have a little driving, it will drive you nuts.

Just hit the BC button on your stalk, it will go away. Mine came on this morning, I hit the button then you see the time, etc etc and all you get is a little triangle with a ! in it near the mileage left. I'm non iDrive, not sure if that matters though.

One warning at 60, another at 30 (at least for me - Pre Sept build and no iDrive, no updated s/w yet).

Easy to get rid of the displayed alarm, so I'm not sure why anyone would be annoyed. I like it, and I also like the extra reminder when I turn the car off.

PITA yes, but here's why. If you ever run out of gas and the car shuts down, all kinds of bad computer things happen. Not unlike an instant power loss to your PC. Engine settings can be scrambled upon restart.

I can't believe this.

The electronics are powered by your battery, not the alternator. If the engine died, the electronics would just slowly drain your battery, same as if you hit the start button without your foot on the brake/clutch.

Man... it is so annoying when a car tells you that you need more gas... I hate it when it does it...

Well, there is a simple problem to your solution... fill it up with gas and dont let it get that low... Hopefullly if you can afford the car, you can afford the gas...

There is a term for that...

I believe i had heard that running the car on too low of fuel consistantly can damage your fuel pump as it is cooled by the fuel running through it. I'm not sure how much truth there is to that though as I admittedly dont know much about the innards of cars.

Theres even a blurb in the owners manual that warns about driving the tank down too low.

Annoying? Gimme a break. Most car enthusiasts with a 'lesser' car would kill for helpful, cool electronics such as this! Drive a Ford if you don't like it.

the fuel gauge is a bit on the 'insistent' side. Still it's better that than to do what Kramer did and just see how far below E you can go

The seatbelt chime, now there's an annoying reminder.
