BMW Sunshade

Well, due to the really hot weather we have been having recently, I have bought the BMW sunshade for the windshield. Even with the deeply tinted windows, it still gets pretty damn hot when it sits for a while.

Is there anybody in here who has ordered one? What are your thoughts of it? I now have to wait the week or so until it arrives....

i just bought the e90 sunshade from morristown - $35.00 plus shipping

i have 18% all around besides front windshield and yes it does still get hot even if my car is facing opposite of the sun for a couple hours.

how much did you pay for yours?

I have the power rear sunshade/manual side sunshades. They work well in terms of producing shade. Can't really stop the heat thought.

Sunshade

I was just thinking a few weeks ago when we had a stretch at 90+ that I don't see sunshades in the parking lot much anymore. Seems like everyone had one in the early 90's. OK, so most of you weren't driving then. Anyway, I was wondering where they all went. I used to just unravel an old map, but that was when I used to drive the Honda. Still, 35$ seems pricey for a sunshade, but then I used to have the free cardboard ones pharmaceutical reps would bring. Of course then the car would be a big billboard for Pfizer.

I've thought about leaving the sunroof open a bit, but then that gives me two problems...one is that I don't imagine much heat would get out unless I kept the opaque slider back, and the other is that I'm paranoid about someone maliciously pouring crap into my car. Of course if they're malicious, it's a lot easier just to key it.

Most important factor in getting your car tinted in hot areas is to make sure you get tint that will reflect heat. Formula One It helps to some degree but nothing will be full proof!

I also have the power shade but I wish the side ones were power operated like the 7 series. My kid pulls up on them and then lets them slam down
damn kid... wait till he turns 18 and I get to give him my car that he beat up.

BMW sunshade is made by Hoovercraft and it's the best one I've seen on the market.

I have them in both cars. They are worth it because they are very well made and custom fit. It makes a big difference.

I got mine at some grocery store, was about $5. fits my windshield PERFECTLY. Even has suction cups to keep it in place, so no need to put the visors down. Was in a local Dollar store the other day, and they even had them for ONE BUCK!...
I would never spend $35....NUTS.

I brought a non-BMW e90 windshield sunshade that fits like a glove and it works great. It makes a big difference. However, no matter much tint, sunshades, etc. you equip your car with, the inside of your car is going to get hot when it sits out in the sun. The metal of you car heats up, esepcially on darker colored cars, which in turn will eventually heat up your entire car.

I got my bmw one about 2 weeks ago and the first day I used it I noticed a huge improvement. It's a pretty nice piece of equipment although I wish it didn't say BMW in huge letters, but oh well.

Guys, another method to cool the car before you get in, besides the sun shades is to push the unlock button on the keyfob, once to unlock your door another time to unlock the rest and then hold the unlock button on the keyfob down. keep holding and all the windows will go down and the sunroof will open. If you left your finger off the button everything will stop.
This helps get all the hot air out of the car quick. It won't cool the seats if they are in the sun but it will make it more comfortable. Try it.

wouldn't it be nice if bmw made a ventilation system that sucks all the hot air

out of the car through the vents with the touch a button on the key fobe???

I wonder why no company hasn't done this yet....

They apparently have this function as a menu on the I-drive. I read it on one of the forums, might have even been this one. that you can set it to do exactly that.

so you can set it to do that, so in the future when you're approaching your

car, the car will automatically ventilate the hot air????

That would be pretty damn cool if it was true... but I have yet to see this function, other than the timed cooling/heating function you could set beforehand.

Anyways, I have the sunshade, and it works great.... definitely noticed the car is cooler than before.
