Car Wash Wheel Scuff

I know that using automatic car washes is frowned upon. But sometimes I don't have the time to wash by hand or it's winter or something.

My question- These low pro 19" and 20" wheels are often wider than the tire. Has anyone gotten a wheel scuffed on the metal channel that the left tires usually ride in these washes?

I'm worried.

That sucks! I can just imagine my clear coat getting scraped off as I'm trapped in the car.

I'll wash by hand in the summer.

My stock 17"s go back on for the winter. So, I should be in the clear for keeping the road salt to a minimum.

Youre probably better off leaving it dirty, than going through the car washes.

I wish it was JUST the clearcoat but it went through to the wheel....i'm going to my local BMW dealer he said he has someone who refinishes wheels, but the finish isn't like the stock ame wheels as (ADHD) so i hope he can do....

i will "only" run thru car washes that " I " can drive it thru... (not some punk kid who could care less... stealing my personal shit as he is riding thru the wash tunnel)...

so when doing so... i ride the "inside" of my left rim on the rail... this eliminates the chance of scratching the rim face.

nicer/newer car washes have a teflon runner that is attached to the metal rail face... to eliminate this problem.
