CA: do your |||| sometimes fail to lock?

Comfort access is great for the keyless start, but I'm less convinced by the door unlocking and (especially) locking: I have to rub the ridges on the handles quite firmly for the doors to lock and sometimes they simply refuse to lock at all, despite the key being in my pocket no more than 6" away from the car.

Do any other members experience this? Is it 'serious' enough for me to get the dealer to look at it?

I dont have any issues with either doors, according to the service foreman at my local dealer there are antennas around the handles of both doors, maybe there is a fault with one of yours?

I do have some issues with the trunk lid, at times ill press and press before it finally opens. I took it to the dealer and the said you have to press it once and then the 2nd press it should open, so far so good but it still seems strange to me and ill keep an eye on it

At first I thought "defective" for both door unlock/lock, and trunk. Then I experimented with my hand position.

To unlock- make sure your hand, palm down, is completely surrounding the door handle grab bar. Seems like palm up or a half-assed grab and it won't work consistently or quickly.

To lock- I use first and middle finger and press the ribs firmly. Works instantly, every time.

Trunk- Get your fingertips as far up into the handle recess as you can. Upward pressure from the fingertips opens it every time.

to lock..i usualy take my index finger and roll it on the ridge..it works.if i press it wit index fingers doenst work often..unlocking i just grab the handle as if i was opening it.

i've had same problem with the trunk..i will also try out Krockit's technique.

I have used my thumb also and let it rest there and have had no issues with it. I have the alarm and this combined with the CA is great.

CA is like your gf, you got to rub it the right way to get a response. Not that I have any experience here since I do not have CA but I think it is your technique. Each CA unit is unique.

Every once in a while I have a problem getting the car to lock from the door handle ridges. It is usually because the car is dirty. If I'm not mistaken, the sensor is looking for the electrical conductance of your hands and if there is alot of dirt/grime/etc. there, it doesn't see the change. A wet handle can also cause a problem.

As everyone else suggested, it can be either hand position or dirt. It might also be interference from keys or coins in or near your pocket where your fob is.

I do love that if you when you hold the ridges after the locks lock, the mirrors fold in.

I have never tried that, I will have to do that today Is there a setting to make the mirrors auto fold out once the car starts or do you still have to press the button?

They will fold out on their own after you've gone a certain distance or hit a certain speed. I can't remember which but they will fold out on their own if you forget.

I like the first feature for when you forget to hit the button before you get out of the car. I am trying to make it a habit to fold my mirrors in everytime I park.

they fold out automatically when you unlock the car. also if you hold your finger over the ridges long enough it will roll up your windows and sunroof. And when the car is locked and u go in your trunk to get something, but accidently leave your key in the trunk, the trunk will pop open. i think this trunk thing only works with CA.

were they folded in by CA or by pressing the button?

I think if you fold them in by CA they will fold out automatically when you unlock the car via CA. I normally fold mine in with CA. There was 1 time that I pushed the button to fold my mirrors in and when I unlocked the car the mirrors did not fold out. I didnt think much about it at the time, just figured it was a CA glich. I gues I'll test it when I leave work today.

I have the problem with the CA also, I thought maybe some times my fingers didn't have enough resistance. Then I found out that resistance may have nothing to do with it because I can lock\unlock the doors with my leather motorcycle gloves. I wonder if the dealer can make it more sensitive.

Mine doesn't work all of the time to lock or unlock. I've also had a few instances where it doesn't recognize the key once I get in the car.

The folding mirrors come with the premium package. I thought that the tilt down reverse was on all cars but maybe that's also only premium package.

The tilt down mirror is standard on 30s and part of the PP on 25's.

But back on topic, I've never had any problems with locking, unlocking or starting the car, have had problems with the trunk though.

When I lock my car, I'm usually already taking a step in the opposite direction and I reach back with my finger and kind of roll it over the grooves and I've never had any problems.
