Wow: Gave New 330 Some Gas for First Time

I have 545 miles on the car and I've really babied it. Still have 700 miles to go. I was taking a little drive this morning and gave it a little extra gas -- not a lot and did not floor it -- and oh, my God, it took off like a HUGE V8 !

I couldn't believe it. It was almost frightening.... but F U N !

It amazed me. Now, I've had an S-Class Mercedes, a 740i and a Lexus SC400 and none of them took off like this, well, maybe the Lexus.

Can't wait for the break in period to end. I'm not a lead foot, but I am going to enjoy this car.

Larry

Oh: One last thing: I have the non-sport 330 with the, I think, 159 wheels. Washed to car for the first time yesterday and they are a breeze to clean. They have really big spaces that you can get to easily -- not like my 740's...

I'm glad that you're really enjoying the car. After 10k miles, my car feels very fast since its really broken in by now. Do you have Steptronic or manual?

I have grown to like the 159's myself but I agree that they are a bitch to clean. I have a microfiber washing mitt just for the tires and they are much easier to clean that way

Congrats on the car! It's plenty fast for me. I'm going nuts waiting for mine to get here.

I redline mine everyday past the idiotic mini-van drivers that go 15MPH.

nice thats good to hear. it brings back memories when i first played with my 330 non-sport.

regarding the wheels i persoanlly like the 159s as well. ive gotton faster at cleaning them too. all i do is spray, clean the face of the wheel, then clean the spokes, then spray again, and dry....lol..owrks for me..

Glad to hear you are enjoying your car. Don't baby it too much when running in otherwise you can glaze the bores etc... My understanding is that you need plenty of heat cycles and running the engine up and down different rev ranges. The no-no's are pronlonged full throttle high revs and even worse, lugging the engine at low revs with wide throttle openings (not technically correct for our cars as there is no throttle ).

I am only getting the 325 but can't wait, although I'm a little concerned as I got a G35 yesterday as a temp until my beemer is ready and that is fast! I'm worried I'll hate the beemer now
