Waiting for RFT 9 days and counting
I got a nail in my left rear tire the weekend before last. Took it to the dealer and they told me what I already knew thanks to E90post ... that Bridgestone RFT is on back order . The SA told me he would place an emergency order but had no idea when I would get a new tire. They gave me a X3 loaner and I was on my way.
Well it's been 9 days now that I'm waiting for a replacement tire. The X3 is okay but I gotta tell ya I miss my car! I called the SA again yesterday and he told me Bridgestone says they will fill all back orders by the end of the month but they couldn't tell me exactly when it would get here. It turns out Bridgestone sends the tires to BMW in Europe and they send them to the service center. I'm thinking this whole RFT back order situation is complete and very poor planning on BMW's part. Anybody else waiting for a replacement RFT ... and if so how long is your wait so far????:

Well, I had a nail in the same location. Brought the tire to the dealer on Sat and ended up picking it up on Monday the following week so not including weekend days total time was 6 days.

I notice you're in Virginia. Are you in Northern Virginia ... and if so what BMW service center do you use?

Sorry to hear about your RFT problem. I agree, this backorder thing is ridiculous. I think its cool of your dealer to give you a loaner though. Which dealership is this and did youbuy the tire warranty?

My dealership is Tischer in Silver Spring, and yes I did by the road hazard insurance so I'm covered for the tire, which I'm thankful for. And yes, I do appreciate having the loaner. The X3 is nice but I would much rather be driving my 3.

In Scandinavia we now got the Michelin pilot sport RFT on E90/91 2006 !?
Why do you get the Bridgestone over there? Its a nicer ride whit Michelin RFT, not so hard, and i think its handle good on the road! I hade Bridgedstone RFT on my my Z4 3.0! = hard ride !! |

Update:
I called the SA yesterday and made a fuss. I told him I've been hearing that some people are getting their back ordered tires more quickly than 2 weeks plus. He assured me they were doing all they could do get the tire. Then he surprised me. He agreed my wait has been long and offered to pay a months car payment or lease payment. I told him I payed cash for my car, so he asked me if there were any accessories I wanted. I told him my car is pretty well spec'd out but I had been thinking about an OEM alarm and he says "no problem we'll install one for you, no charge" and I'm thinking YES! :rocks: . So then I decided to push things a little and told him I also had some blackline tailights sitting in the trunk that I was going to install myself. I didn't even have to ask, he said "consider it done, we'll put them on for you". I thanked him and told him I was frustrated with the wait, but he just made me a happy man.

See, now that's how customer service is supposed to be done. The blackline install cost the guy, what $10 in time. The alarm was a little pricier, but at wholesale and the install time (which is trivial) the dealer's out, what, $200?
Because he offered to pay a month's payment, I'm wondering if BMWNA gives the dealer service depts a goodwill budget to use for customers that have their cars sitting too long for warranty repairs? I'll never figure out bad customer service. It took him 20sec to make you happy by offering up minor compensation. Instead most service depts would rather spend hours monkeying you around while you're not happy. Seems a lot easier to just do right by the customer in the first place. |

Tischer is 5 miles from my house, which was a big consideration for me, so I understand why you would choose to have your car serviced somewhere close to you. Who was your CA at Tischer?

I still find it absolutely rediculous that there is only one RF tire for people with 162's, and BMW well knowing this, still went ahead with it...
Im waiting for those Michelin PS2 RF's |
