Rear License Plate Screws?

Uhh I came with only two... and they want me to "special order" another two for my new license plate so I'm like nahh thats okay cause I thought I could get them for free.

Does anybody know what type of screw it is? I think I'm going to go to a hardware store to find them but I'd be easier if I just knew the names first.

Thanks!

EDIT--------------------

if you didn't read the rest of the thread, the screws were actually for another BMW plate frame--not the ones supplied by the dealer when you recieve your car (they only give you two screws for that and I wanted another two for my new one)

so i already went to the hardware store to get them... and if your doing the same the screws I ended up buying (not sure if the screw size for the frame are the same for all cars) were
Phillips Pan Head 5x10 Pitch .8 (Metric).

Take one of the screws off and take it to the hardware store and get two just like them. Ensure they're the same length, diameter, and thread pitch.

But why do you need four, other than aesthetics?

They have very large thread spacing because they are for plastic

A good hardware place should be able to give you something similar, so as SoYank said, take one out and have them see what they can find.

The rear plate does only take 2 though

well actually I got one of those BMW plates yesterday and there are four screw holes and the dealership only gave me two... because their advertisement plate thing only required two. anyways i just got the screws from the hardware store and ill put up the measurements later for future references

thanks on the replies.

If you only use two screws (my dealer also only supplied two), the license plate & frame rattle when you shut the trunk. A four hole frame and four screws should solve that problem.

That sounded a little condescending . I did read your first post, but did not read your post inserted edit. A more tactful response would have been "Please see my edited post above for the appropriate screw size." Thanks anyways .

The rear plate does only take 2 though
My car came with a bracket that attached with two widely spaced screws for attaching it to the trunk lid. It has four holes for the 6"x12" plate. I have a British plate on the back which has two screws through the middle that fit into the holes for attaching the bracket.

The bracket also has rubber pads on the car side to reduce rattle.

anybody know of any hardware stores that has a bigger selection of metric screws? i'm looking for something that does not have a philips head.

reason being i'm a little paranoid now. some asshole tried to steal my registration sticker. i'm pretty sure this happened at my gf's since i park my car on the street there. i have since taken a razor and sliced up my registration sticker. i just want something now that would make it a little harder for a thief to steal the whole plate.

When I did Performance Center Delivery there was no frame but they supplied four screws for each plate.

Were you able to get stainless steel ones? I got four and thought they were stainless steel, but I noticed that the grooves for the Phillips head are showing rust.

(If I ever need to remove the plate I want screws that haven't corroded so bad that they are tough to remove - although I think on mine they screw into a brass hole so maybe I would be OK anyway.)
