Shark Fin

Hi!

I am having a gps antenna (shark fin) installed, would appreciate it if someone can give me the distance from the end of the fin to the rear windshield.

Hope this is what you are after... mine is 70mm (2.76in) from the edge of the rear windscreen.

It extends the signal for your cell phone provided you have the insert for your phone that goes in the armrest. Forgot the name of it.

Sharkfin can, depending on which sharkfin it is and how your car is configured, support satradio, satnav signal, mobile phone, and bmw assist.

6cm. I will have mine installed this week.

Please use 6cm as a best reference as most importanrt is to have the best curve alignment between the Fin and the roof top.

I am curious whether yours were come from factory or OEM retrofited later? I was given 6cm as a reference.

You need the docking cradle as well. It is what is connected to the antenna and the power. The snap-in adapter goes between the cell phone and the docking cradle and is phone specific.

Asiann asked for the name of the "insert for your phone" - that is the snap-in adapter. The SIA is indeed the insert.

I am just reding through the thread wondering the same thing!! Definitely a factory installed one, and I can't see BMW being 10mm out on something like this...

When I get a chance I will go and remeasure and photograph...
