Lightbulb 335i VS Z4 M Coupe What would you choose?

I was interested in finding out others opinions, let me explain myself before everyone jumps down my throat. Where I live the price difference of these two models is not that great, I’m young i.e. no family and I was pondering this the other night. The twin turbo 335 e92 appeals to me because of its new technology bear in mind that I live at high altitude and normally aspirated engines loose about 17-19%+- of there power as appose to 5%+- in a force fed motor. So Performance of the two in a real life situation (straight line) might be very similar. One other thing even though the 3.2 straight six is a phenomenal engine but how soon is the Z4 due for replacement and when the M3 V8 comes out will I not feel dated with the 3.2 Straight 6. I know that you cannot compare a std run of the mill BMW to an M but these are my thoughts

If you don't need the space, get the MZ4. I had an 2000 M roadster - the last year of the US spec 3.2 engine (240hp vs 300+ for 2001). Even though I found myself wanting the new engine when it came out, I loved my car. I'm sure that the MZ4 will be much more exclusive than the new 3er coupe. If I could get away with only 2 seats I would get the new Z coupe no question. The thing looks exotic!!

Tough call, the overall all design of the E92 is fairly nice. Personally, I do not care for the front end of the Z4.

Have you sat in the new Z4 Coupe? The reason I ask is because I had the pleasure of doing so yesterday and while it is a very nice car, there simply was not near enough room. It might work as a weekend car but on a day to day basis my 6'2" frame and that small of a cockpit would not work well together.

It really depends if I have a second car. The Z4 M can't be my only car - it's just not practical enough.

I would probably still go the 2+2 335i because you never know when you have more than 2 people to carry and I think it would be a better daily driver.

It's so funny to see big guys in a Miata, Z3, or other roadsters. Their heads are hunched over and they are leanign to the center of the car just to fit in it. It makes you wonder if they even test drove it before the bought it. I dont even think they realize how redicules it looks, very clown carish.

i'm in the same predicament. although, i don't have to make a decision for another 3-4 years. i really love the Z4 coupe as a car but as others pointed out, i don't know if i can take the fact it's only a 2-seater. i wouldn't care personally since the only person i need to haul around is my girlfriend but there are always situations when you go somewhere and there is 4 of you going out and you're the only one with a car. that would suck!

seriously, if you have the money, Z4 would only be good as a secondary, weekend car. having only one, primary car, you should probably think more practically and get a 335i.

I am 6ft and 225lbs, and I fit fine in the Z4 vert. But, in the Miata, I am lucky my leg gets in it! The Lexus IS feels smaller to me...

It all depends on what you'd use it for. If you're just doing short hops and pleasure driving, and maybe track days, then by all ///Means... but if you're a working stiff who is stuck in freeway traffic or on bad roads, the 335i would be a better choice.

I'm the latter, so rather than buy a Z4 3.0si coupe, I'm going for a 328i. FWIW, note that I also have a Z4 roadster, so I know what I'm talking about.

I drove the Z4 M and wasnt that impressed with it (given I only went up to 70mph and stayed below 5000rpm. I personally wouldnt buy it. It's just a lil bit too boxed in for me. IF I had to choose I'd pick the 335i.

If I could close my eyes in order to prevent the vomit every time I went to get into my M coupe then maybe I would choose it over the 335
