Streets of Willow Nov 14

Hey hey all you socal 1er mofos.

Redlinetrackevents is holding an HPDE @ the Streets of Willow track, up in Rosamond. This will take place this friday, November 14. Sorry for the late notice, but I only decided to go 2 days ago, and had just found out about the event. I am signed up, as are a bunch of my buddies with MINIs. One of him is the best god damn mechanic there is. Big ups to Danny @ MINICORSA in north hollywood.

Cost is $120 for the track day, $30 for a timing transponder, and like $60 if you want an instructor.

Mandatory driver's meeting @ 8:10, with the advanced group starting their first runs @ 8:30.

Bummer, would've been pretty fun to watch some 1ers go at it.

Right on J Tyler, I will keep an eye out for you :headbang:

I am going to caravan up there with a couple buddies. So just look for the only 135 at the track, next to some MINI coopers.

edit: For everyone else's enjoyment, I am going to for sure bring my video camera mount, and record some fun in car track action in the 1er. Will hopefully be able to post it by early saturday. Watch this space for more...

Jason, nice meeting you. You were, ah, haulin' the mail....!! Thanks for the ride. I had a blast today; drove lots of cool cars, met some great people. 1:34 around Streets in a stock 1er is quick.

Here's some video of our car from a test at Buttonwillow a couple months ago:
- two hot laps (the second one is much better)... check out the slide at the end too

We'll have some video and pictures up from the Time Attack on Wednesday soon

Thanks so much for going for a ride with me yesterday, Jeff. Having your input and feedback is so helpful, thank you so much for taking the time to take a few laps with me.

All in all a very fun day. Learned a whole lot about the 1er. Just keep loving it more and more. The power delivery is so smooth, it just amazes me. Handling was very good with the stock run flats, next time I will hopefully have some dedicated tires for track days. Only negative thing I will say I that this car sure has a lot of understeer. Gotta do whatever I can do get rid of that. Camber plates should do the trick, as Jeff suggested.

Here are some pics from the day:

135's 1st Track Day

edit: my positioning of my vid camera SUCKED. My seat back was at such a low angle, and my camera mount clips onto the seat, that you don't a very good view of the track. I will post a vid or 2, but they won't be that good.

Do you still have that much oversteer built into the car? Seems a handful to me. IIRC, you installed just the rear H&R bar, is that right?

The mods that were on the car for that test are listed directly under the video

Yes, we had only an H&R rear bar then + stock front bar. It was very loose, but lots of fun! Since then we have added an H&R front bar and added some rear toe-in, and that made a huge difference! She drives beautifully now. We've shaved 3 seconds off that lap in the video.

Three seconds is a very nice improvement! Sliding around the track can be fun, but not the fastest way around.
