It is the Automatic Safety Belt Assistant that is standard on the e92. After a door closes it feeds the safety belt to the driver/passenger. It hides itself in the rear interior side wall only visible by a chromed end cap.

You actually have to press the button on the door pillar first before it feeds the seatbelt
