Do you use your cruise control? for EU drivers
I forgot to add the cruise control option while making the order and now it is to late for that. But my question is do you really use it on our crowded and twisty European roads and highways?

I do. Good for avoiding speed camera fines.
Are you sure its not standard? I don't remember adding it as an option but I certainly have it.

You're right. It is an option in the UK! Cheapskates.
Standard in Belgium.

yeah, I'm kinda upset as I thought I will have it... Suddenly I got the email from dealer saying that the car will be at the end of october so it is to late. Good and bad on the other hand.
The dealers work slow because I told him about adding that last monday and maybe a week ago it would still be fine...

I never touched my cruise control when driving in & around London, even on the North Circular at 3am there's either too much traffic or too many lights to make use of it for very long.
I only every used it for the M4 dash to Wales or when in France/Spain to avoid speeding too much. It's nice to have but I don't think you'd miss it unless you had it on your previous cars. . |

Cruise control is a great value when you want to sell your car.
Otherwise, if you're driving mostly in the city, it's not really useful, as the speed is alaways different on every single part of it. If you're a highway driver, then it's definintely useful, not only it helps for radar and peace of mind, it relieves the foot from pain when you drive long distances trips. |

Cruise control is standard on the 123D, NOT on the 120d or 118d.
I'm not sure about the 125i. I use it ALL THE TIME .... Even on smaller roads ... why? Well, I've noticed a "bad driving" habit. I usually have the board computer set to the instantaneous milage/consumption. I have noticed that, even though I thought I was driving at constant speed, I was speeding up very gently, almost unnoticable. I have checked this by driving the same roads day in, day out, sometimes by giving gas myself, sometimes by using cruise control. When driving with cruise control, my instant mileage is about 1-2L/100km lower... Doesn't seem much, but when you drive constantly like this, your average goes up a lot. Being under 5l/100km or above, is a matter of just a few millimetres more on the pedal.... When I tried keeping this low mileage by giving gas myself, it felt like I was slowing down slighly, whereas in fact, I was keeping constant speed. Is it only with this car, I don't know... first car I have with instant mileage ... Just a comment from a neurotic gas-saver .... I tend to make a game out of it |
