1/4 Mile Times for Stock 135i MT w/ RFT

People who are breaking into the 13's when doing the quarter mile with a 135i Manual stock with the stock RFT, 18' wheels, I want to know the following:

1. What RPMS are you launching at and are you dropping the clutch or easing it out?
2. What tire pressure do you use in your rear tires?
3. Is traction control (DTC, DSC) on or completely off?

I am new to drag racing and want to know what some of you more experience people are doing. Thanks in advance.

Here is what I've heard although I'm not too good at launching the car either:

1) Bring the engine to 2500 RPM and let the clutch out slowly. If you spin the tires let it out slower. If the engine bogs down let it out faster. I have a lot of trouble with this because I'm used to my Audi TT with only 200 hp and AWD. It takes some practice.

2) Lower the pressure in the rear tires slightly to provide more grip. Raise the pressure in the front tires. Too low of a pressure in the rear will increase rolling resistance though. I really don't know what is a good number though. Maybe 40 in front and 32 in back?

3) Turn off all traction control (turn off DSC and DTC) so the triangle with the circle around it is lit up. You do this by holding the DSC button for 5 seconds.

i plan on going soon, and my plans are to turn off the DSC and DTC, launch around 3000RPMs to prevent bog, and ease out the clutch to the point that i got a good roll out. you don't want to dump it or you put a lot of shock on the drive line and risk breaking something. if you go slow, then you will smell your clutch burning. (it is better to smell the clutch, then to hold a broken gear.) although, i think you would spin the rear tires before you broke a gear as long as you are stock.

i come from the AWD world as well, so it will be a little different.

I would not suggest turning all of the DTC/DSC off. Its pretty crazy and all you need is to turn off the DTC. I launch at 2700 or so and I let the clutch out relatively quick. I dont burn the clutch or burn the wheels that much. I have not taken it to the track yet but I have done plenty of launches and I know what is the quickest

Oh and I come from the AWD A4 too and I must say I do not miss it. Thank goodness for the 135i

Clutch burns/brakes faster by letting the clutch out slowly by time.

I usually rev depending on car, from 2500 - 5000 ( my x GTR33 @ 10,500 :thumbup: ) and let go fast but in a gradual way while throttle balancing it to minimize burn out.

I actually haven't tried launching my 135i yet, but I remember Car and Driver when they got a 4.7 0-60, they were launching the car at something like 4.5k. Rev to 4.5k, then slowly release on the clutch (your gonna burn your clutch) and at the same time increase on the gas until your flooring it. Thats how I launched my 07 mustang gt, except I launched it at like around 3k rpm instead, and I did some pretty nice launches that way.
