Hows the ride after spacers?
Hows everyones ride after spacers...Ive had 2 e46's with a couple sets of rims and I havent really found any yet that the steering doesnt shake a little even after being balanced properly and centering rings...now Im just curious so of the rims Ive found are 38-40 offsets..so they will probably require spacers to look flush..It seems that like 35 is about the right size for 19's or 20's?? So Im not exepcting a perfect ride when you get rims but I dont want a even worse one with spacers...

Have you pushed it with the spacers on? I am real hesitant to install them because it might induce understeer... |

I have entertained the thought of rear spacers to push out the 162's a little more, but I am afraid it will mess with the handling some by pushing the rear wheels out more... |

Donny, thats not going to answer my handling question Im just a tad bit worried with beefier tires in the back and setting them out more that it will effect the handling in a negative way... we shall see... Good news is that we might have the LUX rings in a week... |

wha...you're shooting down my offer to experiment so as to answer your question in a methodical manner
any effect on my setup will be the same (just about) all else being equal on your car, no? I've been curious after ase2dais's feedback on rear spacers (i.e. looser steering, higher tendency to rotate etc) Lux in a week? How'd you gather that?

See... I know its not 100% the same with spacers... it just cant be when it comes to handling... it might be small differences, but Im OCD, and those differences bother me... |

ive had mine on for a month or so now, theyre 15mm on 162s w/ runflats.... i thought i could notice a difference, in a positive way, it could just be my imagination , but i think it dives into the corners a little better

Ive noticed that even with these tires/wheels on the rear wheels looks a little different that the stock e90 ZSP rears wheels, for they dont stick out as much. So, H&R 15mm spacers were put at the rear axle. Hows the ride? same! you mean, Hows the handling? Immediately after I took the car for a spin, I feel a slight oversteer. the steering used to be tight, but now I feel some free play during steering manuever. Its not too bad that it affects the overall handling, takes a few moments to get used to it. Hope it helps, no regrets though.

I'm trying to understand how that can be. Shouldn't widening the rear stance cause the front tires to break traction quicker than the rear, exaggerating the already factory-tuned slight understeer? Are you perhaps not entering the corner with enough speed to induce understeer, but are powering out of it enough to induce oversteer?

making the tires further apart doesn't magically create more grip
you'd have to be a pretty damn skilled driver to notice any difference in widening the track 24 mm much more skilled than anyone here |

We are talking about 30mm for some of us, and that will be noticeable... I do plan on tracking my car eventually, and understeer is the last thing I want... |

... but if over time I sense or notice uneven thread wear occuring on the tires, I may opt to remove it.

I just ordered a pair of 12mm spacers from rogue engineering, so I guess I will see it for myself... Just when I said no more mods, got the Lux rings coming in soon, spacers by the end of the week, and Im putting RF's back on for the summer... |
