Best brand for window tint?
What do you suggest? I'm looking for "the good stuff"
Tint that will not turn purple or bubble and also blocks out heat as well as light? What's the best! |

Stay away from metallic based products if possible. Ceramic based tints are reputedly superior for GPS, SatRad, and Radar signals.

That's what I'm currently trying to have installed because it's ceramic and won't block cell signals at all. They don't have a certified installer in my area but the factory might allow one of their local installers of another product line install it for me. Will it look good on a black car? It rejects nearly as much heat as huper optic ceramic film but has fewer layers (easier to install and less clearance issues).

I went with Huper Optik Ceramic 40 all around. I compared all the ones listed above, and they all seem to come highly recommended with lifetime warranties against color change, bubbling, etc. Huper Optik appeared to have the best heat rejection when comparing similar light transmission specs (I didn't want a real dark limo-look). It wasn't cheap, though - $350.

Does anyone know right off the bat--which has better UV blocking: Formula One or Huper Optik? And are they full-spectrum protection or just UV-B shielding?

If you wear polarized sunglasses make sure you look at the tint that you want with them on. I had Huper Optik on my last car and it looked like crap through the polarized lenses. Rainbows, stripes and such. Not impressed with the Huper film at all.

Thanks for pointing that out Texas. I wear polarized shades.
So: F1* > Huper Optik > 3M ? *When using Pinnacle Series or UV Shield To those who used F1: How much did you pay? I'm aware Huper Optik is on the pricey side. |

It's a little pricier than some of the other tints but it appears to be a better material and it came with a lifetime warranty. The shop will repair or replace the tint if anything happens including bubbles, scratches (even if I scratch it out of my own stupidity), broken window replacement, etc. |

$249 for the F1 Ultimate. I liked the Ultimate because it is less reflective than most. Plus on the 'vert I don't have to worry about the tint interfering with the rear window antenna signal. I get a nice big whip antenna on the driver's back fender.
Like lib, I would buy the Pinnacle on a Coupe.

I've got 3M Crystalline on my car. The installer used to do Huper and says this is much better stuff when it comes to performance, but also easier to put on without flaws. I really like mine and it has made a huge difference in cooling down the car.

Not really. I looked into having formula one installed but the nearest installer is over 100 miles away. The factory rep said they might have their local installer of another product install it. I never heard back from him.
Here's forumula one pinnacle data: Product / UV Protection / Heat Rejection / Glare Reduction Pinnacle 50 99.5% _____ 43%___________ 44% Pinnacle 35 99.5% ______50%____________ 60% Pinnacle 15 99.5% _______59%____________ 81% Pinnacle 05 99.5%_______ 61%____________ 94% http://www.formulaone.com/pinnacle.htm It appears huper and 3M perform slightly better than formula one pinnacle (blocking heat).

3M seems superior! The odd thing is, I've read many recommendations for Huper Optik, although it offers only a 10-year warranty. There must be something better that Huper Optik has over 3M. Hearing about the problem with polarized eyewear is a let-down though. Formula One and Solar Gard provide lifetime warranties. How is 3M's warranty? If anyone knows, is it free of the polarized problem?
