Smile Can somene help...

This 'feature' is driving me nuts. When I unlock the car for both doors (coupe) and then open the drivers door, the whole window goes down. This usually isn't a problem but in sydney it's pissing rain so the car ends up looking like a pool on the inside!

Further, how can I disable this double door lock open thingie??? and how can enable opening both doors from open? Is this a dealer only thing?

Thanks gurus!!

Don't you just love technology! Haha... This shouldn't be a dealer program thing though.

Kris, obviously not what's supposed to happen but this happens on the Z4 and there is a technique you could try on your 135 which may work. Sitting in the car (drivers seat), close the door, then with key in ignition and turned onto ACC or with engine on (your choice), lift the window switch but don't lift through the detent. As the window approaches the top of travel, you may need to finesse the the final bit of up travel until the window reaches full travel. Then, hold the window switch up through the detent and hold for 4 or 5 seconds and then release the switch. Open the car door and the window should drop slightly and then return to full up position when you close the door.

What may be happening here, is that the window as an anti-trap feature and it's 'memory' may think there's something there - what you're trying to do with the technique (above), is to re-calibrate this mechanism. Happens all the time on the Zed's, bit of pain but usually gets out of sync when raising and lowering the roof. I'm surprised the manual doesn't describe how to reset the window but give my suggestions a try - you might need a couple of goes to finesse the procedure but I reckon it should work.

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks Phil, I'll give this a whirl. It only seems to happen when I unlock both doors which is quite strange!

Ill give that a go!

think you press the key flop too many times: 1st time to unlock the driver's door - 2nd time to unlock the passenger and boot - the 3rd time you press the key - the windows will drop when you physically open the doors (all in the instrution manual)

On mine, if I click the remote to open the doors and hold the open button down, it unlocks and opens the sunroof and both windows. If I just click once, it just unlocks the doors.

Not sure if that helps??

I have ze answer.

When you press twice, it is designed to drop the window. Unfortunately because your car is set to open only the driver's door with one press, the second press obviously causes the window to drop. To change it, you need to go to the icon with a key and a tick. Sellect that, then scroll down the icon that has three vertical lines and one 45 degrees angle line. That is meant to be one door open (in a 4 door car I guess). Select this and change it to the icon with four 45 degrees lines.

How did I know this? I went through the same bloody problem! Lol

The reason the window drops is for easier access in a tight spot. You can open the door a little to squeeze in, but with the window up, whilst the door space is wide enough, the window crowds the entrance. It's programmed to drop the window lower when you press TWICE.

Options are (until re programmed)
Press once, and unlock passenger door from inside (although I think just one press should unlock both if you've selected the "easy access window thingy"

Press twice when it is a tight squeeze and you want to "slide" into the car in a tight spot.

Could tell you how to fix it with iDrive (easy), but not with standard display.

I know it seems an annoying feature, but it's quite clever for its purpose really.

Absolutely. You only need it if parked in a tight spot.

At the moment, I am trying to park with nothing within 4-5 metres of my doors.

Well, I set the unlocking to open both now from a single unlock press.. works better. The second press still lowers the window all the way down, doesnt appear that can be changed.

Further, it appears that the car only will turn on all the welcome lights when the lightswitch is in the AUTO position. If its in the OFF position, and you leave/reenter the car the welcome lights won't come on?

Anyone know how to have them on perm when opening the car regardless of the switch? More than likely another setting I guess???

Should I just order Comfort Access to avoid this problem? Or won't that help?
