Took the 135i to the track

I took the 135i to the track last night to see what it will run so here is my best run of the night even though almost every other run was in a few hundreths. By the way the car is stock and an auto.

R/T .059
60' 1.954
330 5.500
1/8 8.444@ 85.08
1000 10.973
1/4 13.110@107.68

Do you brake boost an auto to get a time like that?

Nice times OP. I've been waiting for someone to best the magazine times. Congrats.

+2 That's a heckuva time. Here's my details from my best run (I suck at it tho):

DIAL ...
R/T ... .751
60' ... 2.118
330 ... 5.669
1/8 ... 8.599
MPH ... 84.49
1000 ... 11.113
1/4 ... 13.239
MPH ... 106.33

You have an awesome reaction time. I would wait for the green light then go. I found people getting a huge leap on me. There is a big learning curve to 1/4 mile runs.

Not quite. I'm tuned w/jb2h, unless you're with BMW, and I just lied my pants off to you and I'm really 100% stock.

Very nice 60' with the stock tires ...

Nice times and MPH as well ... that is what I want to see ....

Now If I can see some Dinan tune cars trapping 112+ .. it'll put a smile on my face ..

A 6MPH gain in trap speed is probably a little too optimistic I think.

Whos knows until someone gets it and runs there car. If it doesnt give at least another 4 to 5 mph then it isnt worth the money that they charge for it.

It wouldn't be if you would get what Dinan really advertises and not less than that ... lol .. plus it is only 5mph (107 to 112)

In my 2001 camaro .. I trapped 107 w/ just a lid (air filter and box) .. I dynoed at 316rwhp / 345rwtq (something like that) .. After a cam, headers and exhaust (stock catback), pullies and tune I dyno'd at 382rwhp / 379rwtq .. so effective 66rwhp and about 34tq gained. After those mods, I trapped at close to 113mph ...

I know it is different cars, but I would think if someone could actually get the HP/TQ advertised by dinan you should get a 5mph - 6mph gain in the 1/4 ..

This car will stay stock for a while. Coming from owning some highly modified cars you kind of want just 1 that still has a factory warranty, reliability, & driveability.

Great times. Even for an auto that 60' is impressive, much better than I expected. I plan on taking my manual to a track here when I have some free time later this month. If anyone wants to meet sometime in late June at Sac Raceway we could have some friendly competition :D

I take it you just foot braked it on the launch... what RPM did you launch at? Also, what RPM did you (or the car's computer) shift at?

And in response to the reaction time question: Launch before you see the green light. It really depends on the track, but usually I drop the clutch between the second and third yellow light. How I nailed it down was to actually run a few red runs (the time still counts, even if you "lose") and work up from there. I was nailing consistent .500-.510 back in college (which was the last time I had a car at the strip.)

R/T doesn't really matter unless your in a competition. Whether you have a .500 R/T or 10 second R/T you're ET will be the same. The clock doesn't start until you trip the beam so you'll be better off and run better times by concentrating on your launch than your R/T.

Having a prefect R/T doesn't mean squat if you drop the clutch on the last amber only to either bog off the line or sit there spinning. Perfect the launch, drag races are won and lost in the first 60'.

Nice. Where on the east coast do you live? Im hoping to maybe even best your time when my auto gets here. FL has the best weather and sea level for great 1/4 mile times.

Maybe in the winter, but times suck all summer long in FL. My GTO would run 12.80 in the winter and 13.2 in the summer.

Yep. from late Nov. to Feb. We have awesome weather due to being at seas level and sometimes dipping into the 30's. My bone stock 02 camaro SS ran 12.72@110 in January here.

Oh and nice choice on the Montego Blue, I ordered the same color as well! Except I ordered the sport and premium package with the steptronic tranny and paddle shifters. I'm hoping Dinan comes out with a stage 3 soon that involves mid-low 11 second 1/4 mile times. I want to embarass some cocky stock viper and z06 owners around here.
