Talking Mission: Tint and Invisible Bra

Ok, so last year one of my partners got a new FJ cruiser and I told him, "hey man, if I were you I'd go get an invisible bra as soon as you can." Not really being into cars he raises his brow  and says, "dude, I don't really know what that is, but I can tell you I'm definitely for it!!!!!!!!! :w00t:" Anyway, so now it is a joke between us. I thought it would be appropriate to share since my car is going to Victoria Secret to get her curves supported.

Tonight I began the adventure of paint protection and tint. I am driving my car 100 miles to get it done and I have just spent 1.5 hours prepping the car. If you are interested in seeing what a 135i looks like in Laguna Seca Blue, you might want to subscribe. Pics to follow....

Ok, so I didn't create too much suspense from this thread. :iono: It actually is a bit funny. The pictures will tell the story. First two I took before my trip, last one is what it looked like when I got there after rain most of the way. My brother picked the car up for me today and is bringing it to me in the morning. Here's what I had done.

VentureShield: front, mirrors, behind door pulls
3M Crystalline CR-40: sunroof glass, side and back windows
3M Crystalline CR-70: windshield

I think a lot of you won't like what I did to the sunroof, but always have it closed due to the glare (eyes don't like the bright light). I am hoping that with the tint I will leave it open a bit more.

I totally got some looks from people. It was quite embarassing. I'll post pics of the car completed when I get it back, unless my brother takes some tonight and posts them.

I've heard that one should never tint their sunroof as it is made of different glass to the windows. The issue being that because it is in direct sunlight, the tint may cause the glass to warp. This is why all factory sunroofs come with a tinted glass, rather than having a tint film applied. Is this not the case?

I had always heard the same thing. But this guy said it was fine and that they do them all the time. I'll check on it again, just to make sure.

I hadn't heard that but I can tell you my Protege 5's sunroof was completely clear and I could not believe it. It was nearly unusable because you would be blind the whole time it was open during the day. I had it tinted asap, and haven't had a problem (owned for 5+ years).

I'm assuming the 1er sunroof does come pre-tinted, though? Never really seen a good shot of it.

lol, that's great. how many rolls?
You could've also picked up an old bra from a 70's trans am off craigslist, duct taped that to the front, then pretend you were street testing the 2013 135i with the new front end.
