Do we get these features in Oz?

The BMW UK and RSA sites show the following as features of the 135i's available there. I haven't seen mention of them here, anyone know if we get them too?

Auto Start Stop function on the BMW 1 Series Coupé.

Red lights, traffic jams, roadworks - in everyday driving situations, there are countless instances where the engine is idling, unnecessarily burning fuel. The Auto Start Stop function is a system that automatically turns off the engine when it is not needed, and turns it on again when it is. This not only reduces fuel consumption, it also lowers emissions.

Cost-saving advice -
Gear shift indicator on the BMW 1 Series Coupé.

All BMW 1 Series Coupé vehicles fitted with a manual transmission come with a gear shift indicator which constantly calculates which gear is currently the most economical and accordingly advises the driver when to shift. When calculating, the system takes both the driving situation and engine load into account. For example, if the vehicle is accelerating hard, it will wait until a higher rev count before recommending a gear change. Changing gear at the right moment can considerably reduce fuel consumption - especially in urban driving, but also on long journeys.

First one looks like a diesel only option, 2nd one appears to be called: "Shift Point Display, only in conjunction with 6-speed manual transmission" and is standard in UK.

i really hope that option 2 can be switched on and off! i don't want my car to be chiding me with beeps and what not and telling that i am being wasteful and uneconomical every time i rev it a bit harder. might as well flash pictures of gore at me every time i go beyond 2000rpm!

Zuzu, thanks. This forum's busy now, imagine what it will be like it a week when the first lucky guys get their deliverys.

Prof, yup, know what you mean. The accompanying pic gives shows a visual indication to the right of where the D would be shown in the Auto. It looks like it would have an up and a down arrow and then a number, I hope they don't flash or beep, as you say. Given the flexibility of all the other options, I am sure you could disable or change.

Another thing I just remembered. The dealer told me that the Cruise Control doesn't deactivate when changing gears in the 6SM, it will resume at the set speed in the new gear with no interaction.

I've checked the US users manual and none of the above is mentioned.

Uhuh, my Falcon is 5SM and it does disengage as soon as the clutch is pressed in and doesn't reengage at all. You need to press 'Res' to get back to the set speed.

this is technically quite an amazing feature don't you i think? if i am cruising at 80 in 4th and shift to 2nd or 6th it'll adjust revs to keep me at the constant selected velocity?

I like the hill start feature, that will be great for my girlfriend who ALWAYS uses the handbrake to assist her in take off... No idea why! I've tried my little heart out to teach her to drive manuals properly..

IMPOSSIBLE

kris, the hill start will still just give her 2 seconds so she'll need to be quick all the same!

That's how I was taught to, so maybe she was taught that way too. Doesn't mean I still do it that way though!

I guess finding the middle ground between those who use the handbrake at every opportunity and those who use no brakes at all and just rock backwards and forwards. I always wonder how long their clutches last.

It is, especially when the US manual says:

(Interesting, I can't copy from the manual, it's protected). Anyway, it says that cruise control is deactivated once... one of the items is "the clutch is depressed...". So, again, time will tell.

As a safety issue you would have to think that it would disengage.
