Aluminum Trim on Exterior
I have been looking at pictures and some cars have the aluminum trim around the windows on the extrior and some do not. What's up with that? Is it an option? Or is it only available on the 330?

In USA 325i has black , 330i has chrome
In europe 320 has black, 325iand 330i has Chrome. Its Black standard for 4 Cylinder cars and chrome for 6 Cylinder cars, and sport paks get glossy black |

The aluminium trim is only standard on the 325i and 330i in the UK, the 320i and 320d do not have the trim.

Keen interest means you know the everything about the E90.
I much prefer the E90 with the Chrome Trim around the sills, and of course the twin exhaust pipes. |

In Europe, the same policy goes for chrome on the vertical bars of the front grill: black on the 320, and chrome on the 330 (check the photos!). On the E46, the chrome was an option on the lower models, but not now.
I presume its something to do with letting those who stretch to the higher level cars getting a degree of subtle exclusivity. |

i use the theory, "light interior, black trim".."dark interior, chrome trim"...it seems like the safe bet..i just used the E90 configurator (thanks site!) to justify it, and it works like a charm..the chrome trim on the beige interior just seems to be a little much...

I am purchasing a US Spec car in the UK, and it IS a $480 option...If you cant get it there, I should be able to purchase it for you and you can do it yourself I guess..Although, that price included installation, so perhaps it might be even cheaper..Just let me know...Also, I have been told that titanium or chrome trim for the side view mirrors is available for the E90, and that has got to be one of the most enhancing accessories for ANY vehicle...It is GORGEOUS!!

I just got the prices for the chrome trim in Canada.
the kidney grills with chrome bars are $55 a piece. The titanium looking strips at the bottom of the front bumper are $31 in total For the side window frame: $85 for each chrome piece for each doow (so you need 4) $227 for the chrome piece surrounding the doors (you need 2) the total is $935 and this is only the cost of the part. no labour. I'm going to order the grills and the front bumper trim but I'm not sure of the chrome around the windows. I'm thinking of waiting for an aftermarket piece. I have a 325 on order. all the trim is black. Since my car is jet black, I'm thinking it would look better with some contrast with the chrome. what do you guys think? |
